The X7 CPU is better than ZX2 and AK240.

X7 uses Quad Cortex A9 with 1gb Ram while ZX2 and AK240 use Dual Cortex A9 with 1gb Ram. The X7 also has a better GPU than ZX2 and AK240 in case you want to run games or something.

Still no where near as fast as modern smartphones, but it's plenty adequate, X7 is still the 'fastest' dap so good job fiio.

With my 4.4 android, I got 24/192 playback with USB Audio Recorder Pro. My S6 does it natively. I think you are mistaken.

USB Audio Recorder uses its own drivers. Developing a driver you can bypass that Android limitation. I refer to only music players application. All use the default driver with that limitation: Neutron, JetAudio, Poweramp, etc.

Have you used X7 already?
ZX2 based on old Android, AK240 with very hard modified and polished version of android.

No. Just stating their CPU specs, X7 is essentially double the CPU of ZX2 and AK240. ZX2 is using android 4.4, AK240 is using android 4.2 or 4.4, but customized.

I hope X7 will use 4.4. I wonder why Fiio haven't mentioned android version though.

^ Doubt it, development of X7 started before even 5.0 was available, and I doubt fiio would extend development time and costs just to squeeze in newer android, I think best case scenario for X7 is android 4.4, but wouldn't mind being proven wrong. Fiio, say something.

Possibly higher licensing fees? I don't know it's just something that came to mind. Perhaps an older version of Android would cost FiiO less to license.

Yea that would play a part, but hopefully 4.4 could be affordable enough now that android 5 is here. Fiio one upped ZX2 and AK240 in CPU, so hopefully it will one up them in android as well.

I stand corrected regarding the Android 4.4 and UARP. I did some more reading on this, you are correct. OTH, this is not an operating system limitation, but a driver problem.

However Poweramp will play high bit audio on my S6 with 5.1. Listening to 24/192 music as I type this. I would guess that Neutron likely would as well with 5.0 and above.

Of course, as has been pointed out, it is not likely that we will get 5.x with the X7. Of course, Fiio may have written their own driver.

Android is free. I don't know why you would bring this licencing subject.
Furthermore, it's far from being true that a quad core CPU brings twice the power of a dual core CPU. There is a very clear line between theory and practice.

Now... wait and see...

Well a quad core cpu has the potential to be twice as fast as a dual core cpu of same speed, but it's up to the software to utilize the potential, otherwise it's wasted. Multi tasking with 4 cores in use the quad core will be twice as fast, web browsers utilize a separate core per tab open, couple that with listening to the music app while browsing the web, it's easy to see the advantages of quad core performance in multi app use. But a single app can also use all the cores if designed to (web browser, some games etc).

Android performance in general can also benefit from quad core. Just go into your phones running apps menu, usually a whole bunch running in the back round, even the keyboard is a separate app that can use a separate core, there are quite a few apps that pile up, quad core will handle normal use better than a dual core, and when pushed can be twice as fast.

I personally went from a dual core phone to a quad core, it was night and day difference to me, but obviously there were other factors involved in the performance gap, like android version.
