Good morning, have been watching this thread, looking for dap to use as a source for my headphone amp. Have it narrowed down to this Fiio x7, and Pioneer 300xdp, I will be using it with line out for the most part, so this news is not good for me. Has anyone else reported similar problems with the line out? Thanks.

The X7 after numerous new versions of the firmware still has the following issues (for me)
1. if line out or digital out are used then the screen has to be continuously on otherwise the tracks stop after the end of each one and the on/off button has toi be pressed in order to continue - this has beeen commented before in this thread and is irritating as the screen uses (much) bettery.
2. no replygain or even a mention of when it might arrive
Otherwise i think this is an excellent player and is very flexible as it can be used as a stand-alone player, with an external amp and as a transport and the sq is pretty perfect for me.
The ONLY way I use my X7 is line out ( to A5) and do not have the problem of tracks stopping with screen off.
Its seems okay regardless of what category I use.
I cannot comment for the digital out.
I do have "play through folders" on and "gapless playback" - shouldn't matter but wouldn't hurt to check.
@ magical mouse - have you tried the Viper Playback gain Control? I don't use that feature but it might do for ya- again it might be worth a try.
The Viper features are pretty awesome (on some material) if you haven't already checked them out.
I also use the Hiby player and it does not shut down - I feel the sound is at least equal to Pure Music and the EQ is leaps ahead.
Thanks for the suggestion... I do have gapless and play through folders on already, I have to add that this is only since upgrading to beta software. For me it is a problem, replay gain would be nice (a bonus) but as i use my X7 in the car mostly then having it work with the RM1 again is my greatest wish. Not having to have the screen always on is next in line on my wish list for battery consumption. Screen permanently on seems to have been the only work around to listen to music through line out on beta software.

My computer doesn't read my external card. The problem is intermittent and I'm at a loss after trying to get the X7 to read the card. I also removed the external card and rebooted, restarrted withthe same results. Any help?

Sorry to hear about that.
Did you select the play single then stop mode? Whether the issue happens in headphone port as well?
The replay gain is available in Viper effect. But we will also consider whether adding it in the FiiO music itself directly in later firmware.
Thank you for the feedback.

Can the X7 read your external card now? The computer only read the internal storage? If you have a card reader, you can try this to see whether it helps?
Is anybody else experiencing the amp output randomly stopping? The FiiO music app merrily carries on, but the output just intermittently stops on me. (FWIW, I'm using 3.1.6beta and am3.)

It seems strange. Maybe you can try to clear the data of FiiO music from settings--APP--all to see whether it helps?
The first one 'Playback Gain Control' from Viper effect is the replay gain add in Viper effect.
Best regards

hi, thank you but am confused with bothe instructions
1. to clear the data - which settings, fiio music or the settings in android mode, if fiio music settings cannot find APP
2. playback gain in viper does not mention replaygain so how do you set it - there seems to be various settings but none about replaygain - are we talking about the same thing - my understanding is that replaygain uses the tags within each file to set the volume so that all tracks have similar volume.
Anyone prefer Power Amp over Neutron, or visa versa? Will they both accurately play 24 bit audio?
ETA
I read that the S7 edge, which I have, is capable of playing HiRez audio, (which I cannot confirm) thus it's the phone I want the above players for.
