Yeah, real sorry that I can't do much in that thread recently; was a little too busy to catch up with recent anime/manga trends and that's why I am not sure what to say inside the thread sometimes :X

I was reading it earlier, great material and smoothly written.

Btw: I don't think people are being rude when you guys are posting your reviews here and they go seemingly unnoticed, because we all know how much work is involved in putting a review together. It's just.... now the tour has progressed so far, there's almost 25 full blown reviews for FiiO X5 (all from tour members), they're so regular and people have a good gist of the SQ.

I think the best way to look at it is your review will now be there forever for future readers!  You can come back in 20 years time read your review and think yep. I remember when........

Latest firmware FW1.22beta can be found here
https://www.dropbox.com/s/kjypmwp2p3y0f9y/x5FW1.22.zip

List of changes over FW1.21beta:
1. Fixed bug in shuffle mode where the songs are not shuffled in the case of playing from one song to the next.
2. Track position now shows while fast forwarding and rewinding.
3. One can now press the power button to turn on the X5 while it is charging (as opposed to having the press the OK button before).
4. Fixed regression in 1.21 where playback volume of FLAC and DSD are lower than normal.
5. Added track position display for .aac files (note: .aac files do not have time indexes so only the current track position (and not track length) can be displayed, and it is not possible to fast forward or rewind.
6. Fixed regression in FW1.21 where the file formats of some music files are not displayed correctly.
7. Fixed issue with 24bit AIFF playback (there was noise playing back such files)
8. Improved stability of OTG storage connection.
9. Fixed issue where external storage could not be re-detected after removal if the OTG cable were left connected to the X5.
10. Fixed issue where the UI sometime froze briefly after disconnecting OTG storage.
11. Improved gapless playback.
12. Numerous other bug fixes.

Sorry if I missed it, but what is the estimated date the X5 will be available in the States?

It has been available since the beginning of April but is probably mostly backordered right now. We're building up for another shipment soon. :)

Joe that looks amazing! Thanks, will update my player now. By the way, i don't know if you guys were following my problem with 5 freezing while updating libs, i found the culprit, it's an m4a file. It freezes the player every time i insert it in the memory card and reload library, but when folder scrolling the file plays perfectly. Do you want to me send you a copy of the file? It's 8 mb

It seems like I've hit a bug with the latest 1.22 beta.

The music playback cuts out if you leave the player on for some time (I noticed this after 4 hours).

With the display off, I can't tell what's happening and no button presses turns the display on. It's only after unplugging the earphones that the display comes on and normal operation resumes.

*Edit* I've narrowed the time needed to reproduce this bug to about 1.5 hours. I double checked that the auto off period is disabled.
