Fiio X5 - Custom/Modded firmwares
Dec 4, 2014 at 10:00 PM Post #586 of 2,614
Hello, I've been lurking the forums for a long time, and I've made a full re-theme firmware based on original 2.20. It's designed to be simple and easy to use.
I still don't have enough posts to post a screenshot, so I placed one in the folder with the firmware.

 That is cool.

What software did you use to re-theme?

I might try this

Hi All,

Was browsing through Fiio's official china forum (http://www.fiio.pw/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=57992) and they were having a poll for official new launcher design, and i thought of bringing the discussion here.

Anyway, here are the designs

Launcher 1:

Launcher 2.

Current poll results is:

Launcher 1: 9.68% (3)
Launcher 2: 90.32% (28)
Old Launcher: 0.00% (0)

Personally, I think that the old one plus our own modding is just fine!

I really don't mean to bash the guys at Fiio....but it seems they have no imagination. Their themes generally look very plain and underwhelming. My favourite stock theme look is definitely those on the X1

Agreed, and the themes on the Chinese forum aren't what James posted on the main X5 thread. At least I don't think they are.

Because there is no transition animation in the X5 UI, I personally found the "Simply Straight" by CH23 to be the most comfortable theme to use. It has all the options visible on the screen at all times without the need to guess which way should I turn the wheel to get to where I want faster.

I also liked that theme.  I find that having all options visible makes moving through the menu simpler.   I'm not a fan of the X1 menu, however.

Multiple themes?  Engineer time, storage space, who knows?

I decided to scrap the last theme idea...I didn't really like it. So I've made a new one with FW 2.36
