Fiio X5 - Custom/Modded firmwares

FiiO once said they'd look into it. Can't recall if they ever came back to that, and what their answer was. You're not the only one having this problem though.

Lets hope its not been swept under the carpet, as the wheel drives me crazy most of the time as I ALWAYS go past where I want to be.

Good to see I'm not alone... my chest literally tightens up in frustration whenever I go to use it.  I nearly just sent it back thinking I'd give the dx90 a try... but I'm trying to suffer through it.

This was one of the first things that was brought to Fiio's attention but they have not acted on it just like many other requests.

Bugzilla looks like its dead and a waist of time posting there at the moment.

My 'solution' has been to slightly press the wheel as I rotate. I find this helps control the action of my finger a little better, similar to how holding a camcorder to your eye helps stabilize things. Not perfect, but it works for me.

+1 I use my X5 at least 2/3h a day minimum and too much of this time is devoted to bearing with this misbehaving wheel.
Sometimes i even take back the X3 to rest from this obvious mistake in the X5 design.

Fiio should communicate about it. If it's impossible to improve it by software then it should be said propery so we don't keep hoping and try to live with it.

What type of problems are you having? I really have no issues navigating this.

Good tip... I've tried to alleviate it by placing my finger at about the 5 o'clock position and then pulling down to 6..but still kind of a pain...

The wheel has bumps on the bottom, and the case has dents, that's how it creates the "clicks".

These clicks are not at the same "speed" as the user interface, thus, one click sometimes makes you go to the next item, but sometimes it doesn't, and 2 clicks sometimes only make it go to the next item, or 2 items down.

Exactly. I prefer to know if something can't be changed, rather than waiting for a possibility that won't happen.

I wonder if you were to put one of those bumpers on the outer diameter of the wheel and use your thumb/finger on the bumper to turn the wheel if that would help. just a suggestion. i will see if i have any from the portable amps if bought over the years.

Howdy folks. Been away for awhile so I didn't realise firmware 2.2 was out officially. Gonna get to work on an updated Aztechno theme.
Also, I get messages occasionally from people asking if the can mod/alter my firmware, o which the answer is a resounding YES!
Go nuts!

Hey guys, any chance of getting a reverse scrolling modded version of the new 2.31 beta firmware?  I know it's beta but it opens up the library file limit to 20,000 from 5800.

Cheers and Thanks!
