FiiO X5 beta firmware 2.06beta-2.07beta download and discussion: all sorts of sorting improvements!

You should be able to see every track when browsing by folder, but you can't "play all tracks" from the category browser menu because that relies on the library database and therefore the 5800 file limit. As I understand it this is because to access all tracks across both cards, the library database is required to tell the player where to look for each track, etc.

Hi,

I loaded the cards on my laptop and the properties of them read that the cards are loaded with over over 90gb each, however, I can't 'see' either in the FiiO X5 or on my laptop all of the files on the cards. I thought this was due to hidden folders or something, however, this must be an sd card issue rather than the FiiO and its firmware then?

As I now understand it I should be able to play all of my tracks from my TF card on the FiiO X5, but not by category browser menu, is this correct?

Cheers Loquah...

Sounds like a fake card to me...

I'm holding off on buying 128GB cards. Way too expensive. 64GB are doing just fine for me.

I just got them from a reputable source for £80, which isn't too bad and returning fakes to ebay for a full refund...

Yeah, when it comes to eBay, a person has to be careful. I may have to get a MicroSD "wallet" or something to hold my eventual collection of cards. I don't think I'll ever hit the 5800 file limit with my songs being at least 1MB per minute. I think I have just a little over 400 songs, and I've taken up about 25GB of space on my 64GB card.

Six weeks ago, I´ve ordered four Sandisk Ultra 64 Gb a total of about 92 USD from ebay, China. The seller had 100% positive feedback, and he shipped with tracking number, but when it arriwed to my country (Sweden), it came to wrong city and wrong person. Then the seller were not an member at ebay anymore, altough he was since 2005. After I did a claim to ebay, I was refunded.

And a week ago, I´ve ordered seven new Sandisk 64 GB Ultra without retail packaging for a total of 70 USD from a seller duczhemic in Italy. He was a registered ebay-member since july 1st (one week) and a few day´s later, the seller was gone - no longer a member!

I guess he was banned from ebay for some reason. But it I get a mail that they were shipped to me, so I guess I have to wait and see. But I´ve no idea if they´re genuine?

I´ve also bought some of those card: http://www.ebay.com/itm/291166685705?var=590315809562&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
It seem´s to be the Sandisk brand, but they have no Sandisk label. And when I asked the seller about it, he did´nt understand; -What do you mean by Sandisk, he said?
So again, I was refunded!

So I´ve bought two of those card´s too from UK, but they are no name brand, so I´ve no idea if they will work with my X5?

But at least, I´ve get them

I hate to say it, but this quote from the listing doesn't sound promising:

"
All cards range from 4GB to 64GB in capacity. These are offered as upgraded cards, therefore the speed and capacity will vary with each card. Errors may be experienced once the maximum capacity has been reached. We suggest formatting the card in FAT32 format if problems occur."

The two fake sandisk micro Sd cards 128gb I bought were immaculate with sealed retail packaging. After some study there is a small application called the H2W test that tests your card for its size, speed and writing details. It is the only way to know for sure as the packaging is so good these days that it is easy to be fooled...

If you have a genuine SanDisk card handy you can see differences in the colours on the fake ones - red is different and there is texture in the paint on one versus smooth on the other (can't recall which way around though).

Also, if you look at the back of the cards the fakes look different to the real ones.

Pretty sure the card on the left is genuine in both picks (definitely left is genuine in top pic)

When i buy memory cards I spend a few extra dollars and get them from a brick and mortar store.  The pricing is reasonable and you know you are buying genuine product.
Here's my usual source if anybody wants to buy from them online:

here's a link to their SD cards:

Thanks for the idea. I actually went with something that had a rubber internal and holds 8 SD cards. The product you referred to is all plastic, and is very prone to breaking from reading a few reviews. I think rubber is the best sort of "holding" feature as it won't break when you're trying to get it out of its case. And we all know how small these cards are and how difficult it is to get them out of a holder, let alone the X5.

After hearing all the runaround and desparately trying to get an honest deal from EBay,  I'll take the brick-and-morter way and stay away from EBay.  Cost me a lot more from Amazon, but worth it.
