FiiO X5 beta firmware 2.06beta-2.07beta download and discussion: all sorts of sorting improvements!

When I rip an album with more than 1 CD I get the tracks numbered:
1-01
1-02
...
2-01
2-02
...

When I play the album the X5 V2.07 ignores the algum digit and plays:
1-01
2-01
1-02
2-02

It would be nice if we go back to V2.02 and get it organized by album.
Since I only play albuns, I've created another folder for CD2 and play it from folder...

This!!

For some reason after recreating a playlist, this time m3u8, it just works.

i found an error and i'm far from happy with it, though i can understand it, as it's a very uncommon.

some of my files won't play in the playlist mode, as the playlist gets read wrong.

the following files get cut off after the "TF2:\Sigur Rós\2008 - Me" because of, as i believe, there's an unknown character, namely the "ð"
furthermore, it shows the artist as "Sigur R(chinese sign which i don't know)"

here's a list of the files:

TF2:\Sigur Rós\2008 - Með Suð Í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust\Sigur Rós - 2008 - Með Suð Í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust - 101 - Gobbledigook.flac
TF2:\Sigur Rós\2008 - Með Suð Í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust\Sigur Rós - 2008 - Með Suð Í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust - 102 - Inní Mér Syngur Vitleysingur.flac
TF2:\Sigur Rós\2008 - Með Suð Í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust\Sigur Rós - 2008 - Með Suð Í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust - 103 - Góðan Daginn.flac

I hate to say it, but this quote from the listing doesn't sound promising:

"
All cards range from 4GB to 64GB in capacity. These are offered as upgraded cards, therefore the speed and capacity will vary with each card. Errors may be experienced once the maximum capacity has been reached. We suggest formatting the card in FAT32 format if problems occur."

Now I´ve tried those 64 Gb No name card´s. First, I formatted them with SD formatter and the PC tell´s me they´re 62,4 Gb free.

So, after several hours of transferring FLAC -files to them with a write speed of about 2 - 5 MB/ sec, the folders appears at them, but only a few of the folders contains files! So it seems that one of them will now have 5 Gb in data, and the other approximately 12 Gb. But the info says they´re full with 62,4 GB.

Usually when something appears to be to good to be true, it is.

I really have a hard time understanding how you took the bait thrice, but so be it.

You're better off buying sd cards new, from a store.

I'm sorry but I think that they are fake. I get mine from Amazon, and I mean Amazon, not the Marketplace. At least the returns process is easier, and the prices aren't too bad any more. So far, though, I've had no problems.

M3u8 is in utf-8 encoding, isn't it? That means it can encode those unusual characters without having to rely on them being in the current codepage.

I figured that that was what the "8" stood for.

This was human error, sorry.

Never worked with playlists before :)

Yep :) Got a question for you guys, I remember some of you made monster playlists containing thousands of songs as test cases. What is the max number of songs on a list that you've found to work? How responsive (or not) is the X5 after the initial loading, on the latest firmware?

I made one with 7800. Takes like 3-5 minutes to load initially where the player looks frozen. But after that everything is normal and if you turn player off and then back on again it loads instantly.

Joe Bloggs there was some talk about giving the X5 a "low power" DAC mode, for (possible) compatibility with iOS devices, is there any news on this?

So, do you think the X5 takes its time loading the file because of the limit or because of the size of all the files together. For example, take ~1000 files of WAVs, which would be around 64GB worth, and have a list to load, versus 7800 files on the same card only with smaller file sizes. I suppose it could be both reasons why the X5 would be a little slow, but I wonder what the overall factor would be.

I believe it's looking up the files, to make a playlist of it, quite like syncing your music manually from the cards.

Hi all,
Quick question!  is it possible to name a playlist created on the X5 running 2.07?  I am trying out this firmware but can't seem to figure it out, assuming the naming functionality is there.  Thx.

Another question... I was playing with EQ today and found out that when any EQ preset is selected, including Custom, the volume output is cut by quite a few dB.
I confirmed this on even a flat 0dB custom EQ.

Has anyone else experienced this?  I am on 2.07.

Thx!
