  Dear FiiO people

In your 5.1.1 build of Android,  where is "All Permissions" and where is  "App Permissions" ??

  Dear RobC,

You can find the permissions of a certain app from settings--Apps--Choose a certain app to get the App info--Slide up to get the permissions of this App.

Best regards

Dear FiiO people, this does not answer my question !!!

What you advise only shows what the permissions are, NOT a way of changing those permissions.  I think this why some other Android music apps can not see the music files on SD card or internal storage.  Where are the actual permission controls for access to music files in your FiiO build of Android 5.1.1. ??

What FiiO advised is like this:

What I need to know is like this:

Or like this  !!!

The options to change app permissions in settings were introduced with Android 6.0

You'll not be able to change these easily on Android 5.0 ...

OK.  Thanks HaPeKa.

I just need my music files to be recognised by other Android music apps on the X5III.

WHY IS IT SO HARD ???

Over to you again .....FiiO engineer type people.

I guess, FIIO does get your point even if you don't use many exclamation marks and big red letters ...

Sorry for the big red letters.  I guess I am so frustrated.    Oops... I raised my voice again. My bad.

But away form the silly theatrics.

A significant feature of FiiO on the X5III is it running Android and the opportunity to use other Android apps, particularly those that provide an alternate interface for your music.  That great feature is useless if the way FiiO codes it's music scanning and access does not allow for other apps to see that music.  FiiO know they have problems with their code.  Prior to FW1.1.3 there were significant issues in scanning a large music data base.  (What is the point of 2 x 256GB + 32GB storage if scanning your files is a problem?)

FiiO does eventually get it right. But it can take some time.   I lost count pf the FW iterations with my X3.

So hopefully the FiiO code gnomes are on the case with a fix not too far away.

In the meantime my review of the X5 has been a little hamstrung. After my 10 days I passed the review unit on to the next person and bought an X5 myself to finish my write-up.

I'm not that shure, how much it's a FiiO issue or rather an Android problem.

It has definitely nothing to do with the FiiO database and their way, to build this one up.
The Apple music player does not read the FiiO database.

Fact is, some apps from the Google play store are not able, to read stored files on the SDcard.

However, the behaviour you describe is a known issue with Android 5, based on an older permission model, that has changed since Android 6.0.

That's something, FiiO might be able to help, as they use a modified/optimized implementation of Android 5.1.1.
I'm confident, RobC, that FiiO is working on it, they are quite responsive to user requests ...
