FiiO X5 3rd gen Review Tour starts right now!!---Android based,Mastering Quality Lossless Playback Hi-Res Music Player

I just got my red X5III. I haven't listened to it yet, but I've been getting used to the gui and figuring out Android.
(I wasn't thrilled at first.  When I powered it up, I got an error code that the disc didn't mount or something.  I had to reboot.  Then it froze on the welcome screen.  Eventually, it worked.)

Quick question about putting in an SD card.  Am I supposed to fit the card into the card into the tray and then slide them in together?  Or slide the card in and then the tray after it?  I assume it's the former.  But the instructions could be read to mean the other way.  And the instructions could provide more info on how to fit the card into the tray.

More important, I tried to connect the X5 to my Mac Mini by usb through a hub.  The Mini did not see the X5, although it did charge. I then connected directly to the usb port on my display -- this worked.  Is there a type of USB hub I need so that I can transfer files through the hub?  Or is file transfer not possible through a hub?

For the iSyncer app, there are a couple of versions for syncing iTunes to Android.  Is one better than the other?  I assume the $9.99 fee is worth paying?

Last question (for now):  The folders on the X5 database are reverse alphabetical order -- Z on top.  Is there a setting to flip this around?

Thanks in advance.

I suggest, you first upgrade the system to the newest firmware.
Several USB issues have been fixed since the first release.

Regarding the microSDXC card:
Yes, they slide in together. You best turn the X5 upside down to slide it in, so the card does not fall out of the tray :)

In wich app do you have the sort issue?

I did the firmware update (it took a while, the connection to the network kept crapping out).  Still no luck with the USB hub.  Which is odd.  I'm not sure why my Mini sees the Fiio when I connect to the port on my Dell display, but not when I connect to a hub, which is in turn connected to the display port.  The hub does work with a USB thumb drive.  But neither "drive" of the Fiio (internal, 200 gb sd) appear in Finder.  (I'm on a Mac.)

Thanks for the info on inserting the SD card.

The folder issue is with the Pure Music app.  Is there another music player app on the Fiio, or do I need to download something if I want an alternative to pure music?

Thanks again.

Regarding the order in the FIIO music app you just need to tap the options (circle with the 3 dots), there you can set the order you like ...
It's not obvious at first, but by trying out the different options, you'll find the one, that suits your habits ...

I personally prefer the directory view (first from right). There I have my own order, and that's the easiest and fastest way for me to find the music I want to listen to.

You still have to have a USB connection going from the computer to the monitor, Display port doesn't do that.

Yes, thank you.  I figured this out this morning.

You still have to have a USB connection going from the computer to the monitor, Display port doesn't do that.

I've got that.  The monitor also has a USB port on the back.  When I plug the Fiio directly into the monitor's USB port, the computer sees the Fiio.  However, if I plug a USB hub into the monitor's port, and then plug the Fiio into the USB hub, the computer does not see the Fii0 -- although it does charge.  (I've tried all ports of the hub.)  If I plug a USB thumb drive into the hub, the computer does see the drive.  I'm not sure why the Fiio is different.

(This is a minor annoyance.  I can plug the Fiio directly into the monitor when I need to transfer files.)

OK FiiO people, please once you return from your very respectful duties to your ancestors ( http://www.fiio.net/en/story/548 ) ..... HELP !!

Apple Updated their Android Music app today, and hey like so many other Android music apps, the X5III can not load the local music files ...argh.

A music app by the biggest tech company in the world that produces an app that has had over 10m downloads should perhaps work on the X5III .....YES

PLEASE FIX

  Dear RobC,

Thank you for the feedback. But it may be out of our ability to test every apps by now. You may aslo contact the develper of those Apps to see whether they could offer help for you? Can the apple music app work normally in previous version? We will also report to the engineers and try to find the reason for that issue. Sorry for bringing inconvenience to you.

Best regards

Dear FiiO

We do not expect you to test every app.
BUT testing Apple's Music app is VERY BIG issue.  Apple has MILLIONS of music subscribers !!!
The problem with recognising music files on X5III is with FiiO Android code.  There are many music player apps on Google that do not work because of way FiiO build of Android 5.1.1 stores music files.  Please work out what is the problem with FiiO Android code...YES

This is not a small problem.

@FiiO have said that they would send the review units to few more people who requested if they would wait for 2 months. I was one of them who are waiting :) Is there any update about this? I am still interested.

Thanks.

X5 G3 is very firmware dependent. 1.1.1 sounds much better than 1.1.4

In what way would you say it's 'better' to you?

  Dear FiiO people

In your 5.1.1 build of Android,  where is "All Permissions" and where is  "App Permissions" ??

Dear RobC,

You can find the permissions of a certain app from settings--Apps--Choose a certain app to get the App info--Slide up to get the permissions of this App.

Best regards
