I just got my new Fiio X5 3rd gen on Tuesday and I've never been able to boot past the red welcome screen. I've done extensive research and tried to hold the power button for 15-20 seconds but it just turns off and automatically turns back on to the welcome screen. Any ideas? I need to know before I have to return it altogether.
Dear friend,

Sorry to hear about that. Please try to charge the X5III for a while to see whether the issue stays? Sorry for bringing inconvenience to you.

Best regards

@FiiO
I am a happy user of the X5iii for now 3 months, but the only section that I am not satisfied with is the function to read file on my NAS using DLNA:
in particular the X5 does not display the album cover and other information from the file (running & total time, type and sampling rate of the file etc.). Do you plan to enhance the DLNA functionality ?

As well, I would like to know if more Themes will be available in the future ?

Dear friend,

We will try our best to improve the DLNA function in later firmware. I am afraid you may need to use other APP for help currently.

And yes, we will add new themes for the FiiO Music in the later firmware.

Best regards

Yes. That seems to be the most obvious way to sort -- especially if we can't just drag and drop to create our own custom order.
(And what's the difference between sorting by character and sorting alphabetically?)

Thank you.
Dear friend,

Sorting by characters: You can see the English and Chinese are separated.

Sorting by first letter in Alphabetical order across languages:You can see the English and Chinese are mixed. According to the PinYin of first Chinese word and the first letter of an English word.

If you don't have songs named in Chinese, you will have same result in this two sorting.

Best regards

A very slight annoyance that recently noticed (really pretty slight, but here goes):

Using the FIIO Music Player (either in Pure Music or Android Mode), when in folder view, as the player moves from one album to the next, the view remains at the first selected album.

Example - playing Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited. Folder view shows the song list and indicates which song is currently playing (both with the mini-control at the bottom of the screen and with the small active graphic meter that appears immediately to the left of the current track). When the last song in this album is done, it advances to the next album in the folder (Blonde on Blonde). The mini-control shows the song playing, but the song list stays at the previous album.

Hope this makes sense, I don't know how to do screen shots.

Dear friend,

I have contacted the engineer about that. Sorry, it is not avialable to add the switching in folder interface. Only the playlists in now playing interface would change.

I`m in shuffle mode most of the time and when I want to hear the full album of the track playing, I have to do several steps to access the album, play the first track and change the shuffle mode to forward track reading.
I have a request for FIIO, when in shuffle mode, it would be nice to have a button to go to straight to the first track of the album playing and have the mode change for forward reading (first to last).
Thank you
Dear friend,

You can silde right from the left side to get the current playlist and choose the first track in the album to see whether it helps? And you can switch the play mode in now playing interface as well.

Might be a silly queston, but is it fully charged? Try leaving it to charge for a couple of hours, then try to boot it up.

have you compared onkyo dpxi to FiiO x5 my Fiio is 4 years old-coming back to music after playing computer games for last 4 years, hoping that spotify and tidal have the best sound I sought 4 years ago

I have both. Soundwise Onkyo DPX 1 is superior, if to compare stock players software. After my friend software mod FiiO reached Onkyo level.

Considering how little music is actually recorded direct to DSD, the statement is meaningless. Most DSD releases are PCM recordings which are then transcoded to DSD. So any perceived differences will be in volume or in the transcode. Again - if its a true DSD recording, I'm almost guaranteeing any difference to PCM will be in noise shaping algorithms, volume differences, or more likely in mastering.

Anyway - can we stop with this. if you want a debate - take it to Sound Science. Discussing which format is "subjectively" best (and making your statements about them) is actually off topic in context to the X5iii discussion. And yes - this last sentence is with my "Mod hat" on.

I am aware of it. I meant true DSD of course.
Cheers!

I have bought the relevant cables to join my fiio to a mojo chord but the blue light switches off. I have changed the fiio settings to coax out as that is the cable I'm using. Any ideas?

Hiya folks! I've finished my time with the X5iii tour unit that came to me. If you want to check out some reviewing, complete with my idiotic humour, feel free to check out the review.

Summary: good sounding mid-fi player with attractive, if not ergonomic build, and tons of features, but with middling amplification. Balanced out hissed with Kaiser Encore. Not a giant killer, people should stop saying that.

Some other things to note, from FiiO's specs, the balanced output has less power, more noise, and higher output impedance, but it does have better channel separation. I don't know how they did that, but I'd guess that the balanced was more of a consumer throw in than fully realised design.

Very nice review! Quite aligned with my thoughts as well. Thanks for doing the comparison with your other DAP too. Now you got me interested with the Aune M1S!

Can share your experience how the Onkyo DP1X is better? Balanced or Single Ended when comparing?

Single ended mode - Onkyo wins on sound stage, depth, clear instruments placement, bass more textured and controlled, no distortion in mid frequencies, highs much more airy and shiny. FiiO for my ears sounding veiled - like through curtain.
Balanced - on FiiO it is just some slight improvement, on Onkyo, with ACG mode - really shines.

Why dont you try going into the recovery mode and doing a factory reset from there. Just a suggestion if you haven't already tried it.

How do you do that? I've tried holding every combination of power, play/pause, next track and previous track and nothing works. Fiio support is telling me to hold power and the volume up button...................
