  Hi!
Have anyone try to use x5 as DAC on Macbook?
For me,it does not work...
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
 PS I have FW1.1.2 for X5 3rd gen and macOS Sierra 10.12.3

Are you using the USB 2.0 ? if yes , could you kindly try to use the USB 3.0 to see it can work or not ?

@FIIO, I am on my SECOND X5iii.  The first one would not charge through USB, nor connect to the computer with the same issues posted above.  I returned it the next day.  I received my second one today, and it charged fine via USB, but still not connecting to my laptop.  It tries to connect, but quickly disconnects.  I've tried numerous chargers, and I do have the device setup for USB storage.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Notrix ,

Did you use the USB cable that we packed into the package into the X5 3rd gen.

Btw, when you connect the X5 3rd gen to the computer , did you click to turn on USB storage?

@FiiO as much as appreciate you working hard and pushing out new FW,  i have to say FW 1.1.2 is a let down for me. The fiio music player is just not playing nice. The touch input seems a bit wonky on the player. Pauses and freezes happen more often than not. I sincerely advise you to have a couple of beta testers to use the FW in real world use to report any major issues. I think you could still take a bit more time between the updates but the updates need to be bug free as far as possible. Imagine going from a FW which works fine to one which is glitchy and marrs the user experience. The X5 III is a fabulous device for my needs and the FW problems are kind of spoiling the experience for me even though i don't have a complaint about the SQ.

When im upgrading the FW it has to be a step forward.

superuser1,

Did it happen under the Pure mode ?

Thanks,

Not to say I am glad this is happening to someone else, I am not that evil to wish that on anyone, more of like I am relieved that I am not the only one. Especially with the fact that you have someone with such high wifi speeds going through something similar at least at this point I know it is not something I did wrong or something I lacked on my end. I hope you were you not able to find the x5 with your angry foot until your calmed a bit.

Whiskeyjacks as in Malazan?

One small step for Man, and one giant leap for Music.

BUT, how do I get my Playlists from iTunes to Fiio? I can export a file from iTunes (M3U) but I have no idea how & where to import that into my X5(iii). For what it is worth, I could replicate my Playlists in Media Monkey (my CD rips in FLAC) but I think that work would just produce another M3U file and I might as well do that work on Fiio if I have no choice. Please, help as I've used Playlists for too many years and before that loved to record my C90 cassette tapes with my favourites.  New technology, but same listening habits. Surely, it must be easy and I'm just missing something?

sjb57,

Are you using the Mac or other computer with Window system?

Can we have varying icons in the Status bar for playing and pause? This is probably the main reason why we left our players overnight, not knowing there is something playing in the background and ultimately depleting our battery.

  @FiiO

This latest firmware release seems to be a mistake/in complete   The album art and lyrics improvements are not apparent at all and there seems to be a lag when using Pure music that was not there before. The user experience is worse than F.W. 1.1.1

Hi Hawaiibadboy ,

Could you kindly tell us how long is the latency for the FiiO Music App?

If you do not mind , could you kindly  flashing back  the FW to be the FW1.1.1 to see the problem can be solved or not ?

I can't help get the impression this product was pushed to meet a deadline before it was finished.

The Fiio music app is a terrible let down.  Less is more on this type of device and yet there are options and settings all over the place.  Far too many buttons.  Slim it down please.  Do you really need so many?

I have always considered the best designs to have two main considerations to fulfil.  1) a wow factor that makes us drool with desire to obtain because it looks so damn cool and 2) the fewest number of steps to a chosen destination.  That is not the case with the Fiio music app.

Also, what is the issue scanning music folders?  I have 17000 songs on two 200GB cards and all this app can see is 7000.

I upgraded from the second gen because it struggles with large music libraries on speed and usability and now I find the default music app is struggling to even create a library of music.
It's not impossible to test with large libraries and certainly shouldn't have been a surprise that music files ripped and bought online would have their artwork images inside the music files; it's been that way for many years.

Many of the other music apps I have tried from Google Play suffer because they can't see more than one SD card so choice is limited.

Fiio, please, we like you, but do fix the products we have saved many months to buy.

Did anyone else have any issues with implementing the new update? Mine started to unload, then came up with the following crash message.
Recovery system v5.0
E:failed to mount/mnt/external_sdl (invalid argument)
etc, etc, etc

Finished up with OTA failed! Please power off the device to keep it in this state and file a bug report.

You upgraded the X5 3rd gen by the micro SD card inserted in card slot 1, right?
Could you please inform us what the file system type of your micro SD card is? It is suggested to use the micro SD card with FAT32 format, if you upgrade the X5 3rd gen by the micro SD card.
Btw, we also replied your question by email.
