I am in PM with them about this. They hadn't duplicated it but I sent them further info & going to show you're post so they know its not just mine.

I'm curious to know where is located your spotify cache, is it on the internal memory or a SD card?

Tried internal memory and SD.

I've just factory reset and just installed Spotify off Fiio Market rather than via Play Store. See if any different.

My FIIO X5iii arrived yesterday. Very happy with the unit so far, with one exception. The unit gets very warm while playing. Is this normal? I worry about this perhaps being a battery issue.

Mine got hot too when i started using it for the very first hour or so, probably because of firmware update, apps installation and library scanning (6000 Flac files), now it's not getting so hot when playing music, only when i start doing other things with it at the same time.

I have this same problem on FW 1.1.0.  After installed with FW1.1.1., did a full factory reset, reinstall Spotify by Playstore (btw, no different if you install Spotify from Fiio market or Playstore), the problem seems gone.  The Spotify Premium downloaded songs will stay after power off and on and also after Spotify app update.

I am using a Sandisk 128GB Ultra microSD.

One question though - Is the Spotify equaliser working in Fiio X5 III?  I tried adjusting the Spotify EQ but it doesn't sound any difference.

Question: Is there a limit on the capacity of the two micro sd cards? I've seen both 200 and 256 gig cards being available but have skimmed the thread and have not seen this issue addressed.

Thanks.

I have both in my X5III.

@FiiO >

Finally found a good example [RocketPlayer] of the feature that I would really love to see in the default FiiO player:
Shuffle By Albums when playing a genre (the albums play in the right trackorder: handy for gapless albums).
Been looking for a player that has that feature for ages. Old iPods have that shuffle mode [Album shuffle].
Could you please ask the developers to add that feature. Other shuffle modes like Shuffle By Artists are welcome too.
If Shuffle By Albums in genre mode is added to the X5 III it's an instant buy for me!

I am currently having issues that others have experienced, where it's not finding even half of my library. I am currently attempting to reformat my cards, but copying everything over is going to take forever (currently on 2 of 5 hours for the first card). Hoping to actually test this out tomorrow. Fingers crossed! I have to say that FiiO got the design down on the thing, it feels so nice in my hand.

Thank-you! I am less concerned now. I was also installing applications, updating firmware, etc.

Again Thank-you!

It might get a bit warm while playing as well, but all the DAPs I ever had do get a bit warm while playing.

You might also experience a shorter battery life time first 2 charges or so - at least this is how it seemed to me. It is not the battery itself, but the battery meter needs a bit of exercise to get calibrated. It auto calibrates, so don't worry about this either, it is a known phenomena in phones and all battery powered devices. It is not so bad on X5-3, but I've had DAPs that did this the first two times - just a heads-up that it's not a real problem if it happens.

Why does it take so much?

mSD card +  SD adapter + laptopy , copied entire collection of 128 GB of lossless music in 1-2 hours. 5 hours sounds a bit much.

I would generally advice to not use the DAP itself for copying music. It is possible, but using SD adapters and using the SD port of a laptopy is generally better.

Okay. So you copy the music directly onto the sd card via your computer then put the card into the fiio? I thought I would just connect the fiio to the computer and download the music that way like I would an iPod.

Sorry if the question is noobie-ish. Been pretty much Apple only for mnay years, with a short detour into Zuneville.
