Hi I am about to get one of these new x5, does Spotify work fine with this player? I have been following this thread in the earlier stage and have seen comments like you can only stream but can't download or you can only download onto the player internal memory but not the external memory. Are these still true? Thanks

How can you do a screen shot again?

Hold the fast forward (button closest to volume wheel) and the on/off (blue light) simultaneously for 2-3 sec. I found I had to hold the ff button first, but not always.

Cheers.

Yup, maybe HE does

I have not idea why our UI designer choose that.

psikey ,

yep, when you stop playing music, after 20s, X5 3rd gen will like a phone in standby using minimal power, and the blue is on all the time.

For the wired remoted function issue, we have reported to the engineers and will try our best to improve it in coming the firmware in the future.

The X5 3rd gen supports the in-line remote control of the Apple-compatible CTIA standard: http://fiio.me/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=41963

So to confirm situation with my two apple remote cables (not the Android ones)

  1. Centre button works fine for play/pause/next/previous but a big delay in pressing buttons response. You have to press buttons slowly & hold in for much longer than with normal use on phones.
  2. The volume up button works fine
  3. The volume down button doesn't do anything

Could you please let me know if you manage to resolve this. Loving the X5III for everything else.

None of the Android remote cables I've tried work at all.  Seems strange that an android device supports the Apple control format and not the android one?? No problem so long as one of them works and Apple control format more widely supported anyway.

Great thread, thanks for all the insights.

I have one of these coming tomorrow, a couple of places in Switzerland suddenly went from mid March availability to having the titanium version in stock.

I was deciding between the Pioneer XDP-300R (similar price from Japan) and the Fiio. The Fiio x5 3rd Gen won out due to it's size, it looks like it might actually fit in my pocket as opposed to the Pioneer.

It will be interesting to see how the X5 sounds with my FLC8S, I also have a balanced cable coming for the FLC8S as the stock cable is incredibly microphonic.
