My Dyson Coax cable arrived today. My X5iii shipped today. My SanDisk 200GB and 128GB cards shipped today. Whole lot of waiting going on. Good thing I have my week old X5 first gen to keep me company. (with Mojo)

Did you get around comparing the overall SQ between the X5-3 and AK120ii?

  I know there are a lot of questions about X5-III vs X7 SQ, but can anyone tell me if the UI's are similar?  If they are similar, I would hope that since the X5-III and X7 have the same CPU, it would help with UI software QC.

The UI's, as far as I have played with both of them, seem to be pretty much identical. The only things that might be different are the filter settings page and the button configuration pages (since the X5iii has differently located physical buttons compared to the X7).
 
So yeah, the two share very similar firmware.

At present , we do not have plan for the gold version for X5 3rd gen.
 
The production is based on the market need , if so many friends would love to get the gold one , then we may take it into consideration.

That's just it.  Instead of implementing a feature that is badly implemented or is the "in" thing to do, why not give us something that is useful, like a bass boost

The major let down though is how the Pure Music app or Pure Music mode organizes the files. The headlines categories are actually normal – Songs, Artist, Album, Genre, and Storage based browsing. Unfortunately, that is as far as it goes in terms of drill down organization. If you happen to have 10 albums of the same artist there is no album organization in the artist category. You are simply hit with a wall of songs in numerical or alphabetical order. The same principle applies for Genre whereby its simply Genre>Songs.
 
Loved everything I've read so far. Upto this point.
That also answers my earlier question if there's album based shuffle mode when playing genres just like on the older ipods.
I always like to pick a genre and then have the player pick a random album which it plays in the right track order.
Guess I'm stuck with 3rd party apps for now...

@FiiO, it would be great if the folders "LOST.DIR" and "Android" that the X5-3 creates on the mSD card are hidden to the user in the FiiO Music app. If I want to browse my card in the music app I don't want to constantly have to navigate past these folders in the folder browser view. Just a suggestion.

about the power output of X5III,  usually it is very easy to design the balanced output is 2 times as SE. but it is very difficult to balance the two output at this way. 
 
cause or you get a weak SE output and a reasonable BA output. or you get a good SE output but the BA output will be too high ( comes with high temperature and short battery life )。
 
Btw, the only advantage we can get from " balanced headphone out " is better channel separation but not high output power.

For the next FW, can the default setting be Artist>Album>song by default without having to click the icon? Then the icon reverses to simply a song list if you click on it. I have updated our review to reflect this point but it's not immediately obvious this icon will do that sorting.

Try the VIPER Effect Dynamic System filter (free), it's actually superior to a bass boost. I am not an EQ fan normally but this filter is so good with low end dynamics.
