Does anyone have the full 1.16 firmware in the img format, vs the OTA zip files

I want to do a full wipe/clean install with the fiio updater.
I have the 1.1.4 update, and I of course can just use the OTA files, but was looking for a cleaner faster solution.

Thanks

Dear friend,

Sorry, we don't have the update.img file for FW1.1.6 by now as well.

Best regards

I also suspect that SD2 is unmounting in some way when the player is not used. Some third party apps have automatic library scanning. After playing a song in a third party app on SD2, pausing for a little while and then waking the player I find the song can no longer be found and the library is being rescanned, presumably due to the songs no longer being found until the library is rebuilt. All the songs on SD1 remain in the library and accessible. I first found this on 1.1.5

Hi @FiiO - the playlist is custom made, containing songs of my choice from both SD cards. However, the playlist is, I think, unimportant. If the player has been 'asleep', when I wake it (screen on) and look at the file browser (in Fiio Music - I don't bother with a 3rd party player) SD2 has disappeared. Then after a moment it is back again.

While you're reading: great job on providing real support and communication here :) For me, this is the mark of a good company who value their customers/user base. Thank you :)

I can confirm this behaviour also, same firmware.

Hi @FiiO

I can confirm I get this issue when playing directly from folder view as fell. Also I note that if I unlock the device and try to hit play again it does resume playing from the beginning of the song.

I have also noticed that it takes a while for SD2 to be recognised by FiiO Music when first opening it. I have seen similar behaviour on other apps that read the external storage as well. It does appear to be the card either unmounting or timing out.

Thanks

Can also confirm the problem with sd2. This is the first time that I've been using both cards though, maybe the problem has been there the whole time?

Dear friends,

I have contacted our engineers about that again. Actually, the CPU model RK3188 can only support a single TF card itself like the X7 does. Therefore, the TF card slot 2 is an add-in storage in mounted mode. It will be unmounted in sleep mode automatically which leads to some time for it to mount again after waking up again. But the time will be within 3s or so. Sorry if this issue is bringing inconvenience to you and thank you for the kind understanding in advanced!

Best regards

@FiiO I have problem with greek characters on album tag .the problem exist only with cue sheets not with individual files .i had the same problem on poweramp and i solve it choosing windows-1253 on tag encoding .but fiio music haven't such option .also the same problem exist with neutron and i contacted with developer and he said he will include windows-1253 at next update .
Can you tell to your developers include windows-1253 at next update .

Dear friend,

I have received your mail and asked the engineer about that. Seems it is not an issue because of the lack of tag encoding but a detection issue of font instead. We will go on improving it in later firmware. Thank you for your kind feedback.

Dear friend,

You mean receiving the Bluetooth signal by the X5III and it send Bluetooth to caying N3? It seems not an avialable collection.

Best regards

No, I mean can it receive Bluetooth from smartphone using Aptx codec and play through headphones (3.5mm/ 2.5mm)? There are players (caying N3, shanling m2s) that can do this but not with Aptx.

My basic understanding is that both devices need APT-X to work this way, if you have a smartphone that is APT-X enabled, it should work, as long as X5-3 can receive songs through BT

You might need an app for this to work.

I am very glad to know that you managed to pull 2 x mSD even though the original architecture of RK3188 didn't allow it!

I hope that this will be possible for your future DAPs as well!

Indeed, both devices need to support APTX...however, DAPs like the M1 that support APTX only tend to support it as a source (playing to headphones etc). When used as a sink (receiving from phone) they revert to SBC. I think the question is whether the X53 supports APTX for both source and sink.

Dear friend,

I am sorry that the X5III can't act like that by now.

Hi @FiiO , thanks for looking into it and for explaining the reason behind this behaviour. For me it is a very minor quirk, not even really an issue. One of the reasons I chose the X5III (as opposed to other similarly priced players) was the double SD card - so many only have one. If this is the price to be paid, I am more than happy to deal with it :)

Is that the reason why several 3rd party apps won't see the 2nd SD card?

I am on Low Gain, using Oriolus MK2, balanced out with 2.5mm plug. Volume around 35-40 mainly, though some files requires 45-50.

Just received my 2.5mm balanced cable for my Oriolus Mk2. It sounds really good!

I wonder if yours are CIEM which sealed perfectly?

Any chance of making a newer X5III with a CPU that can support two card slots? That would solve the problem. It's not a good thing to use a CPU not appropriate for the job at hand.

That would be the X5iv. Estimated release date is Feb 31, 2020

Today I received the two cases that I ordered from Tuff-Luv. Shipping was pretty quick (2 days from London, UK to Waterloo, ON, Canada) but I got dinged for $29 in duty. The cases feel like they are of good quality and workmanship. Each case also came with a screen protector. The X5III case feels and looks like it is made of thicker material and is, thus, actually larger than the X5III/A5 case. The fit in both cases is tight without being onerous.

Sadly, it looks like I won't be able to use the X5III/A5 case as I had hoped as it is designed to hold the A5 oriented with its connection ports at the opposite end from where the X5III connections are. So I'd have to replace the stock interconnect cable that came with the A5 with some other, longer cable that can wrap around the case. I'm pretty disappointed in that.

UPDATE:
I reached out to Tuffluv's customer service to express my concern with the design. I'm happy to report that they -- very quickly -- responded, acknowledging the issue. They stated that they are in the process of manufacturing corrected cases and will send me a replacement case when they are ready (they forecast 3-4 weeks).

While I am disappointed with the initial case, I continue to be impressed and satisfied with the level of customer service that I have received from this company. I will not hesitate to do business with them again.
