Hi Fiio,
I disable the Play/Pause button when the screen is off to prevent accidental pressing of the button while I put the player in my bag. However, I experience that while the player is in screen off mode, the player can still be played if the Next or Previous button is being pressed.

In my opinion, this should not be the case. Can you help to fix it in the FW, such that the player can only beplayed using the Play/Pause button and not by pressing the Next or Previous button.

Thanks

Dear lwanism,

The next song would be played after pressing the pre/next button. It is designed to act like that. Some CD players also have this feature. If you don't need to play pre/next song, seems you won't need to press the certain button? Sorry if bringing inconvenience to you.

Best regards

@FiiO what about an option to not allow any playback unless an output is connected?

I've had my x5iii die because something hit the play button and I didn't realize. Normally I like having the play button active so I don't want to just turn the button off altogether.

Dear dukeman,

I will report to our engineers about that and consider whether it would be available to add this. Thank you for the kind feedback.

@FiiO @JamesFiiO I know you guys are working **really** hard on the new firmware, but it would be really nice if you could give us an update on its progress. Last thing we heard was that it was supposed to be released almost a month ago!

Dear enragedlemon,

Our colleagues in produce system are still testing the firmware, we will try to release the firmware soon. Sorry if bringing inconvenience to you.

Best regards

Started using Onkyo after reading this post. I must say it isn't as pretty as Fiio app, but it works a lot better for me. Fast scrolling down the list of albums, which maybe you can do on Fiio, but I haven't figured it out. EQ is much better and easier to use. Just navigating around the app is a lot less painful and more obvious where to find things. @FiiO please have a look and grab some ideas from it.

Dear MinnieOne,

Thank you for the kind feedback. We have reported to our engineers about that. We will try to improve the EQ in FiiO Music.

I'm really keen for this FW update too, I desperately want audio over USB to work so that I can use my Mojo with it (I don't have a coax cable)

Dear andrewjamesdean,

The USB audio function may not be fixed in next firmware update, sorry. If you don't mind, you can buy a L21 and use the coaxial port for help.

Will you at least improve the coaxial output to allow 24/192 and DSD DoP? Pretty standard feature for coaxial, even in the second generation X5.

I hope FiiO can work out the bugs with USB audio output. One of the reasons I purchased the X5iii was because of this advertised feature.

Let's talk BT Remotes. I have the RM1, which works fine I guess. Is there one that will actually allow me to navigate the device? I dock my X5iii and run the Line-Out into my Deckard. Then, chill in bed. I'd like to be able to not "just" move from track to track (within same folder), but also navigate to other folders/songs/artists/etc. Thoughts, anyone try?

you have a smartphone and a wifi connection ? use a remote control app such as VNC and you'll display your X5 screen on your smartphone

(Sorry everyone. The above should have been a quote, but it's not working.)

This has been my main trouble as well. I haven't quite caught on to what/when the X5iii starts playing music without me pushing play. I've turned off Resume to try and understand better any situation when FiiO Music starts music.

@FiiO Thank you for working hard to keep up with a demanding customer base. We believe in you!

I'm not sure that I'm fully behind the "don't allow playback unless headphone/line out is connected" idea but I'm all for changing the "Resume on startup" feature to be more in line with other devices. Resume on startup should be state dependent. That is to say, music playback should only resume on startup if music was playing when the device was shut down. If, on the other hand, the user had specifically stopped music playback prior to shutdown, then playback should not resume on startup.

At least, that's my opinion.

I contemplated recently to purchase the X5iii as I own an X7 but I couldn't find much reviews on the sound quality difference between X7 and the X5iii.

So I bought the X5iii and spent many hours comparing it the X7.

This is a review post to help anyone who are still deciding between the X7 and the X5iii

X7 - Neutral Reference Signature
X5 - Warm smooth velvet Signature

Accuracy and transparency: X7 beats the X5iii in due to its neutral character. A touch analytical ( in a good way) but very musical in delivery

Treble: X7 has an amazing treble response, it has great resolution and it's authentic and realistic. It has glitter but not sounding harsh. X5iii highs doesnt come close to X7. X5iii highs sound very smooth but its slightly hushed doesn't have the resolution of the X7's treble.

Soundstage: X5iii has a slightly better soundstage than the X7. X7 has a great soundstage as well but X5iii gives a better sense of width

Mids: This is where the X5iii shines. Mids are thick, warm, musical and "velvety". Vocals are smooth and "buttery"

Bass: Both have great and tight low end. I think X5iii has a touch more sub-bass than the X7

Instrument Separation: X7 beats X5iii here easily. The X7 separates each instrument so effortly and it gives the sound some form of 3D imaging.

So it all comes down to the preference of your sound signature. If you prefer a warm, smooth, easy listening signature, you can't go wrong with the X5iii.

If you're after a neutral, reference sound with amazing musicality, go for the X7

Personally I prefer the X7 and I think it is technically superior to the X5iii. The treble response, resolution and instrument separation of the X7 is what makes it so alluring.

I hope this helps!

Do you think it matters which amp module you use with the X7 compared to the X5-3?

Thanks for the reply. I am not sure if there is any CD player that can turn itself on when the next button is played.
However, it just does not seem logical if you turn off the play/button because you does not want to accidentally on the player, but the player can be turned on while the next/previous button is pressed.

My usage is this, i do not want the player to turn itself on while in bag. However while I am playing the music, and the screen is off, I should be able to put my hands inside the bag or pocket and pressed the next button.

Anyway, its not a big deal, I just turn off all button except the volume button.
However can you give a thought on that?
