Yes, you can.
Ah that's good then, now, is there no news for a successor still? It's been a long while right? Have anyone tried Moondrop Evo yet and whether it has the same L/R balance feature?

Also, does anyone know whether the tws5 uses the same battery as tws3? I've been looking into battery replacement service on some tws as chucking them off after they degrade us just so wasteful, but is it doable with the 5?

Moondrop EVO sucks period! Barely 2 hours of playtime is kind of a joke in 2024. I mean even TWS that are smaller size than the EVO can get 6 hours of playtime. Hope Moondrop see this and fix that sh1t and stop releasing a half baked products.

Ah agree, I jusg skim through some impressions and it seems to be so.
I mean, their phone/DAP itself is released with quite an undercooked software on everything else not audio also, so yeah, I wasn't expecting much.

How is the market for UTWS? Is there actually other options for the price?
Again, am quite tempted to buy this but it's been 2 years since it's release, usually it's about time for Fiio to release a successor for it. So am hesitant.

It is okay. When it works, it works very well. It has enough power to drive most IEMs, not too big and not too small. case is metal and has wireless charging (very handy), AptX adaptive, 6+ hours battery life.
The problems: -the most annoying thing with UTWS5 is sometimes one side of the pod doesn't charge in the case. You have to re-insert the pod several times until both LED turned on.
- sometimes the pods lose connection with each other and you have to insert the pod inside the case to reset the connection.
other than that, I couldn't find anything else wrong with UTWS5. It has been pretty solid BT adapter.

Yeah that'd be great, I plan to buy an utws to fix the slight inbalance on my Noble Katana, better convert it to a tws than pay exorbitant repair fee.

It used to be named UTWS15 as some of the people who have been here waiting for a long time might remember. Apparently it is now named the UTWS5 2024

but the other manufacturers, big and small, are doing fine with using contact still tho? Heck I have a sony WF900sp. a literal swimming use tws and i never have this charging problem.
Im still skeptics on using Wireless charging as they really do degrade the life expectancy of your battery quite heavily. and on small ones like TWS, itd just make them have shorter life.

Every 20$ TWS from Amazon manages to have charging metal contacts without corrosion. Idk.. maybe in Fiio-Land they have never seen this type of metal that even cheap TWS and every other IEM BT hook-adapter has.

Also i have a bad hunch when it comes to this wireless charging that they're allegedly working on.. so close to the IEM itself! Some of the IEMs have very delicate, hypersensitive and fragile technologies built in them. We're not talking about the average cheap TWS technology with your run of the mill 1 x dynamic driver technology built in them.

They better not F this up! It ain't space technology nor a big ancient Egyptian riddle to open the hidden cave room with all the gold coins! Put some goddamn corrosive-resistent metal charging contacts in there, like everyone else on this planet does ..and end of story!

Having regular charging contacts in the original utws5 that wouldn't corrode (like every dirt cheap Amazon TWS is capable of) shouldn't have been a problem to begin with! Instead they managed to somehow make the impossible possible (in a negative sense) and F'd up so many people's daily lives plus wasting 150 bucks of theirs!

Do we get a refund?!

So today i encounter a new issue with utws 5: the pogo pin stucked. I try using a tweezer but it refuse to go up. Do you think some wd40 or rp7 will help?
I guess using a very fine needle to coax the pin back into alignment might be better than tweezers
Or even tapping the opposite side to where the pin's sat to jolt it back -- depends if there's somewhere under the housing for the pin to lodge rather than just be under the surface
