The ifi Go Pods. They are definitely better in my opinion. Better sound overall. Cons is the price $399 compared to the FIio although you can't really find them anywhere. Also the Go Pods case is quite large not meant for a pants pocket.

Updated it, got some random noises in the first track after pairing but ldac has been steady. I think thr turn in case thing happened today but I think it was due to bad contact in the pins. Who knows. Anyway. I bet update is coming

Hi everybody, (very) long time I didn't came to see what's news on this thread (and on HeadFi forum also). I'm going to reread the previous pages to see if I find anything of interest to me.

I've been interested in this product for a few years now, but I hadn't buy it because it's wasn't necessary for me, I listen music on my DAP (Cowon Plenue D, still work great since 2016), with wired earphones/headphones. But for spend calls and communicate on my smartphone and my computers, I always wanted a bluetooth device, not a simple wireless earpiece, or a wireless headphones (to heavy for me and too big).

The market of the wireless earphones is better now in 2024, may be one day I will buy a Sony WF-1000XM5 if I can have it at a really good price (less than 200€) or the next version may be, I already have a Jabra Elite 85t, bought it because his price was very low (135€ with the wireless charger). One thing I don't like on most wireless earphone is they dont have hook for ears, I will never understand this.

But this wireless earphones aren't universal, the FiiO UTWS5 is a good invention for me, you can convert your wired earphones (universal or custom IEM) into a wireless earphones, and I already have some universal IEM (Westone UM Pro 10, Thomann the t.bone EP6, Shure SE215, Sennheiser IE 40 Pro, Panasonic RP-HJE900-K, Meze Rai Solo, and FiiO FH3), I will buy anothers later.

I finally decided to buy this FiiO UTWS5 yestearday, a "v2" furthermore (not a real evolution, just some minor adjustments), with MMCX connectors of course, luckily I can found it in stock (very difficult to find it nowadays, also on Aliexpress), on FiiO Shop DE (UE seller, better for me, I live in France), not to expansive (140€, taxes and shipping cost included), I will received it Monday (thanks to the DHL express shipping).

Can't wait to received it and test it in comparaison to my Jabra Elite 85t, the lack of ANC on this FiiO UTWS5 is not a problem for me, the battery life is thus not impacted.

Too bad FiiO don't make a new version, more modern, with a new chip for a better sound quality, and higher BT version, and why not ANC or better battery.

My UTWS5 warranty is due in a couple of weeks. Let the games begin...

Still using it regularly on my walks. The sweat is cleaned with a humid paper towel with some drops of detergent. The excess is then dried out. The corrosion thing is just a matter of time though.

Elysian Pilgrim with my mmcx UTWS5. Purchased the mmcx to pentaconn adapter through Amazon.
This combo is very good. Sound is full, plenty of headroom, don't feel any different when using 4.4mm connected to my Fiio K11.

Unfortunately, not the best choice for this purpose. If indoors your interlocutor can still hear you more or less, then outside for a serious conversation you have to remove and turn off the modules and talk as usual (or shout, and this scares passers-by). This product provides exceptional music playback quality, all other features are secondary.

Hello taube Taube, yeah I know the FiiO UTWS5 is realy not made for spend call but it can made it, and it's a good thing. I appreciate the TWE (my Jabra Elite 85t and other good TWE like the Sony WF-1000XM5) for all their advanced fuctionnalities, but one of the most important thing with these TWE is the sound, certainly it is good but not as good as good IEM.

Also, with the FiiO UTWS5 and IEM not too expensive (like my Westone UM Pro 10, Thomann the t.bone EP6, Shure SE215, Sennheiser IE 40 Pro, Panasonic RP-HJE900-K, Meze Rai Solo, and FiiO FH3, around 100$), you have a good combo for better sound than TWE like the Sony WF-1000XM5, and cheaper, the Sony WF-1000XM5 cost approximately 300$, a little bit expensive (I gave a Sony WF-1000XM3 to my sister for her birthday because they wasn't too expensive, 160€). The FiiO cost me 140€, with one of my IEM, it cost me around 240€ for a great sound, but without all the advanced fuctionnalities of a TWE.

By chance, in my case I use the FiiO UTWS5 with one of my IEM only at my house, not outside for spend call with them, I knew it that this feature was secondary. I use my TWE (Jabra Elite 85t) outside for spend call in a noisy environment.

I find this FiiO UTWS5 a good invention, but not perfect for me I realize it now.

I bought this product just now

I prefear the necklace form factor, and most of his functionnalities are more advanced than the FiiO UTWS5 :

- BT v5.4 (BT v5.2 for the FiiO UTWS5)
- 2023 newest Qualcomm QCC5181 Chip (Qualcomm QCC5141 Chip for the FiiO UTWS5)
- more audio decoding format (LDAC, aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, AAC, SBC)
- good battery life for the dual battery model (60H approximativly, 400mAh)
- support Snapdragon sound like the FiiO UTWS5 (thanks to the Qualcomm chip)
- USB-C charging port
- OFC pure silver plated braided wire

I know this is somehow the same kind of product like the FiiO UTWS5, this is not a TWE, but may be a better alternative than the FiiO UTWS5 for me. The only thing that might displease me is the lack of application for this device.

I hope the built quality is good because the price is high for a chinese aliexpress product (90-100€).

Been a while since I posted...probably going to purchase Sennheiser IE 900, and would like a BT option when cables are not practical.

So maybe it's time for a thread recap given that the FiiO UTWS5 is no longer viable or available. Other posters will be in a better position than I to update, but as near as I can see the options are:

1. (brand name??) BT-5181 Pro that norgei is waiting for (another week norgei and do you have a link for them please?). Has anyone else got this unit?
2. Moondrop EVO for USD90 (can the quality possibly be Head-Fi standard??). I assume they can be attached to other brands or IEMs or buds with the right connections, but can anyone who has them comment please?
3. iFi Go Pods for USD399 or AUD629. BT 5.2 and someone good with specs might comment on the rest. These appear to be for high quality sound – has anyone heard them or have them.
4. Anything else?
