Ok thanks for clarifying. I’ve ordered the TC4 OTG cable. I’ll report back whether it works or not.Dear friend,
The R7 could work as USB DAC for mobile phones as well. We did not test with CD transport but if your CD transport could output via USB like the mobile phone, the R7 could theoretically work as USB DAC for it.
Best regards

Dear friend,
A uni-directional OTG cable. Is the LT-TC4 long enough?
Best regards
Hi
I can confirm that the Fiio OTG LT-TC4 cable did not work either. I really don't like wasting my time and money on suggestions. Either the R7 dac works as a USB input dac or it doesn't? Would appreciate clarification on this.

Lee

If you are convenient, please send the log files to us and we will forward to the engineer for check.
Extract a LOG file
For special software issues, please extract a LOG file under the root directory, unzip and copy it to the homepage. And then send it to us for analysis.
Please go to " Settings ->About device" , and continually tap “Model number", until the prompt "Have save output log to built-in storage" appears.
Then please wait for about 20 seconds, and go to player's internal storage, then send the folder "fiio_log " to us and inform us the time of the problem for further analysis.
The R7 could work as USB DAC, for computer, for mobile phones. But since we did not test with your CD transports, the engineer thinks the connection should theoretically work. And they would need to check the reason for the issue you mentioned first.
Best regards

Darko on his YouTube video for the Hegal Viking CD player compared it to a Schitt Urd using the R7 as a USB DAC, so it does work. He didn't elaborate on the setup so don't know what settings or cable he used.Dear friend,

Yes I saw that video. Frustrating because I've tried three different cables. I'll try to see how he hooked it up. Thanks.

Dear friend,
You could send it to support@fiio.com instead. The attachment in head-fi seems only allow certain file formats.

Is there already a release date of a new firmware that fixes various bugs.
I have reported several bugs directly to the support at the end of June which they wanted to investigate (#662) and also here you could already track a bug (#694).
With kind regards

I just got the R7 with the R3 and KB1K. I like the unit a lot. I did notice one small issue. The set the Light color to 'based on audio format'.
It worked as expected until I hooked up the KB1k. Then it went back to the default color scheme. When I unplug the KB1K, then lighting color works as expected.
thanks

Please try to enable the USB output option in the FiiO Music app and set DSD output mode to 'DOP'. Can it help?
Best regards

Hey @FiiO ,
the lovely R7 was tested by audiosciencereview.com.
There is mentioned that there is a „ESS IMD Hump“ issue seen on the device.
If I understand it correctly, this could be also fixed be firmware? Are you aware of this?

Is the "Second harmonic regulation" turned on by default for the R7?
