Yeah I was surprised to find a single review for it on amazon.ca. I had my M7 for several months and liked it alot. But the audio glitch at the start of almost every track for me drove me nuts so I went to the M9. The M9 track transition is flawless regardless of format and that alone would keep me from getting the M7K. Though the M9 does sound better than the M7 the M7 was a better match for my needs with the much better battery life and slimmer design. I noticed Fiio added an FPGA chip to the M7K like the M9 and M11 to optimize file format support. If this is the reason for the flawless track transition on the M9 then the M7K could be interesting. I was really surprised to see it is still using the Exynos 7270 since Samsung discontinued it last year. I am guessing that availability will be an issue for awhile thanks to Covid-19. Looking forward to seeing some reviews for it sometime. I have been looking at the Shanling Q1 as a daily carry DAP but this could be very interesting as an alternative.

What trouble you been having on the start off every track ? What files you use....flac. mp3, etc I have two M7 and apart from the odd cut off at the end of the track, they're been fine. And I tried with gapless on and off . Not much difference really .

It started off as intermittent but after a few months it happened on most tracks. The song would either start a fraction of a second late or there would be a quick burst of noise when a track would start. All of my tracks are either 16 bit flac or mp3. The glitch would happen most frequently transitioning from an mp3 track to a flac or vice versa. I stopped using gapless playback as it seemed to make it worse and I listen to tracks on shuffle vs album listening. Perhaps it wouldn't have been as noticeable if I was an album listener

At the min I have just been using my 2nd hand black m7 by playing all songs , all folders , in shuffle. And I would say that one or two tracks seem to cut off early...this is in gapless and without .......what does gapless actually do ? .... Then tonight I turned on player after charging and chose the folder method, sd card and it froze...so did quick forced shut down. Power and play tabs.....Started up ok . So now I'm going to play via the sd card in folder mode.. And play starting at the first file (cd ) and play in order. See How it goes.

Dear all,

I just purchased the M11Pro, my first experience with FiiO Music. My question is about using FiiO music to stream music TO my wireless speakers over wifi. Just to be clear, this is NOT streaming music from a drive or webserver to play on the M11Pro. It's not Tidal or Qubuz. It is also not involving bluetooth. I have high-end wireless speakers with built in DACs and amplifiers and I want to hear the music stored on the M11Pro over the speakers. The M11Pro will be casting to the speakers over wifi.

Until the M11Pro, I was accomplishing this with an android tablet using the app Hifi Cast. I have installed Hifi Cast on the M11Pro and it works perfectly with my speakers. I can stream up 24/192 (apparently) from the internal and SD drives in the M11Pro.

Unfortunately, I cannot achieve the same with FiiO music, which is my goal. I have gone through the manuals and tutorials and tried everything; FiiO Music simply won't find my speakers wifi when it searches, though it will connect to my router and the internet with no problem.

Note that my speakers are not connected to the internet; internet-capable devices can find them and connect over wifi, just as if they were bluetooth. Hifi Cast seems able to do this in seconds, as does a similar app, BubbleUpnUP.

Could someone let me know if this is possible with FiiO music?

Thanks in advance,

David

@FiiO
I am all of a sudden getting a message that there is a problem with my M9 when trying to connect via USB and will not load. I had previously used it on the two PC's I've tried connecting to and both are giving me the same error.

Things I've tried are different USB ports, two computers, different USB cables and a couple factory resets.

Am I looking at a warranty replacement or is there anything else that can be done?

Edit: Just tried a 3rd USB cable I had at work and figers crossed, it seems to be working, maybe both my cables at home were bunk.

Let's hope that only the cable was the problem and that you won't have any more problems
Looks like I jumped the gun. While I was able to get the computer to recognize it with that cable, I am having it freeze up each time and it won't stay connected.

Now I have been able to keep it connected and copy over Apps that were previously installed and working.

They won't install now and just boots me out after it says staging app. These are the same ones I used successfully prior to this. Anyone have any suggestions? Can I roll back the firmware and try upgrading again? It seems to be non white list apps that won't install, but I am on 1.06 firmware and these apps worked before my device reset.

@FiiO it appears as though I am unable to install any non white list apps after my factory reset even though I'm on firmware 1.06. Any suggestions?

Hi,

Have you removed the white list app limitation; You can go to "Settings -> General > About device" and tap 7 times on 'Kernel version' to remove the limitation, and then reboot the player? After that you will be able to install any third-party apps.

Best regards

Thank you, that did solve the issue I was having with installing apps. I had activated dev options but forgot step two to activate non white list apps being able to be loaded.

Unfortunately i seem to still be having freezing issues during copying and deleting from either the internal memory or the SD Card. When the SD card is loaded directly in my PC, no issues at all with deleting or copying the same files. I've tried numerous resets and have engaged my retailer for warranty.

The retailer confirmed the RMA approval from Fiio and have asked for me to send it back for replacement.

Is there typically any option to move to upgrade (paying the difference) to the M11 on warranty fixes like this or is it up to the retailer? I inquired as I've been considering buying an M11 regardless what happens with my M9, but probably wouldn't if an upgrade is an option and the warranty process isn't too long. They advised it would be up to Fiio and that they wouldn't be able to answer until the unit had been returned. If I'm going to be without my M9 and an M11 upgrade isn't an option, I'd like to order an M11 now and get it in my hands before shipping out the M9 for warranty, especially if it means being shipped to them, then to Fiio, then back to me.

Generally, we do not provide the upgrading option in warranty service. You could communicate your requirement with the seller to see whether they could help you about that.
