I bought the official one and do not recommend it as there is no opening to access the micro SD card (a poor design). The case is so tight that I could not get the m9 out of the case to get to the micro SD card without cutting off the case (design and/or manufacturing specifications defect). The AliExpress seller is refusing to provide a refund despite the platform's "satisfaction guarantee".

Another AliExpress buyer reported the same problem that I had:

This is a very disappointing product, once your Fiio M9 music player is inserted into the case it is impossible to remove the M9 due to the fact that it is a very tight fit, there is no access to the micro sd card as the slot is covered by the case. The only way I was able to remove the case when I wanted to replace my sd card was to get a scissors and cut the case to free the M9, as a result the case ended up in the garbage bin which is what the case actually is a piece of garbage.
Bought my m9 and sk9 case from jindong,is true that there is no sd card cut,but i can easily remove the case just by draging the screen down,or even with a cable connected you can pull the case out, maybe yours was a defective unit?

@FiiO Short question regarding SPDIF. The SPDIF seems not to outpot 24 bit although the tracks have 24 bit. I am using the Fiio Music app and the app shows it correctly as 96 kHz and 24 bits. While the 96 kHz are handed over to the DAC the 24 bit are not. Any chance it is somewhere in the settings to change this?

Can anybody verify that you can not get 24 bit out of the FiiO M9 SPDIF?

Thanks TheStalker79 - I didn’t know about this site so this is really helpful.

Just ordered one - seen the comment above regarding it being a mega tight fit once I’d pulled the trigger..... I’m not taking the card in and out (I load songs via the cable) so, whilst this tight a fit isn’t ideal, I’ll hopefully be ok with my use.

It is a tightish fit and the first time I took it out of the case I had to be patient. But there's a little gap at the top and with the right tool and perseverance the M9 comes out slowly. It does look good and because the M9 has a pre-fitted screen protector it does a good job of looking after this great sounding player.

Dear friend,

Did you test by yourself or? What's the module name of the DAC you are using?

Best regards

Yes!!! This is a big issue for me also... I'm connected to my home WiFi and streaming tidal then bluetooth ldac to a earsone es100 and Everytime the song ends I have to turn the screen on again or press the next or skip track button to make the next song play...
Dear friend,

Does the issue happen in both offline and on-line music files? What about when turning off the wifi? Did the issue happen before updating the firmware? Are there any play mode option in the Tidal app?

Best regards

Is anyone using this player with a 512GB micro SD card? If so, can you please let me know which one you are using?
I have this one and it's working fine, but the internal file manager crashes due to file limitation (it seems it crashes with more than 20.000? files maybe less).

So I contacted Fiio regarding my issues and I was planning on mailing my device to Fiio for inspection/repair this afternoon. I removed my SD card and charged it on Friday as I thought I would mail it out then, but I didn't have the opportunity to make it to the post office. I turned my device on about 30 min ago to check the battery, fully expecting it to read 80% or so but it said 98%! Furthermore, the little 2.5mm balanced icon was gone! I plugged in my computer speakers in the 3.5mm jack and it's working! I have no idea what happened or why 1) my battery seems to be draining normally and 2) my 3.5mm jack is working again. I guess my device just needed to rest a bit.
