Crap, How do I tell? I want to terminate into 2 rca preamp inputs on a home stereo! Using a long 3.5 mm extension cable:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D5H8M18/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

thx

bob

You can use the 3.5mm SE output with that cable alone, and set it to Line out :)

You'd be solving a lot of headache, because that cable is not balanced either...

If you mean cutting it, you can cut the short terminator above, since it has a 4-pole 2.5mm male jack, and connect the 2 X RCA cables to that, but you need to be really careful to not connect the negative and positive the wrong way

Unfortunately, if you'd want to keep the connectors balanced, you'd have to cut the RCA cables after their split, otherwise the ground is connected between the left and the right channel............

Quite a bit of work, I'd stick with using the 3.5mm SE output of M9 :)

Just got mine in the mail today, first impressions are very good! This is a big upgrade from my Cayin N3 both in terms of sound quality and features. I find that compared to the N3 the soundstage is more open, but at the same time it has a more "planted" sound, if that makes sense. Maybe its a little warmer, a little less analytical than the N3. Sound signature wise, it's more like my Fiio X3ii but more refined. I think I also like it better than my Fiio Q1mkii, but I'm pretty stoked on it so take that with a grain of salt. The killer features for me are Tidal offline, power output (especially balanced), full 2Vrms LO, and good standby time. I also like all the bluetooth options. Looking forward to LDAC bluetooth receiver mode in future updates. UI is smooth and easy to get used to, no issues so far. The Fiio music app is quite good. I'm feeling like I got a lot of DAP for the money. If you are on the fence about this DAP, I'd say go for it. So stoked on my new toy! By the way, this stacks very well with the Fiio A5 and that combo easily drives my 600ohm beyers. I'd say excuse the ramble but... this is head-fi. Y'all are probably used to it :)

Hey how do you compare this with Q1mii for both SE and balanced output, i really like the sound of Q1 m2 balanced output but not the SE. I even like it better than Q5 with its default amp module, somehow i feel the stock amp of Q5 sound a bit to thin for my taste. I mainly use akg n40 and campfire audio comet, and sony nba3 (all of these v-shape or u-shape) with balanced output these days.

HEllo guys,

Anyone hos the deep sleep / stand-by mode works ? Does it need to be activated ?
Dear friend,

The M9 could enter stand-by mode when it is not playing music with Wifi and Bluetooth. You don't need to turn it on.

Best regards

In the Fiio music app it shows up just fine, doesn't show on Tidal as far as I know.
Just made a video where you can see the screen having the issue. It is a hardware problem.

Dear friend,

Did you try another APP as well? Only the Tidal APP has the problem? Or please try to do a factory restore to see if it helps?

Best regards

We were talking about the Fiio logo not showing up on Tidal, I don't know if it is normal or not but it doesn't matter. What matters is that the screen of my M9 doesn't show the gray color in any app 95% of the time. That's why it is so bizarre... And that's why I am returning the unit. Factory reset didn't help.

FiiO releases the new firmware FW1.0.2 for M9

Added some more 3rd-party apps to white list, including JOOX, ES file manager, Bandcamp, and Sony headphones;

Note: You can copy the apk file of the qualified app to the M9’s internal memory or external Micro SD card, then open the File Management app, locate and click on the apk file to install it.

Anyone out there managed to set up the M9 to stream to a HiFi system through WiFi? Through Bluetooth it's quite simple. I stream to a Bluetooth receiver which has an optical cable to a DAC to a mini amp to my speakers. It's Aptx and sounds good. When I replace the Bluetooth receiver with a Ezcast M7 WiFi receiver, I get nothing whether I connect to my own WiFi or directly to the Ezcast. The Fiio app's DLNA just finds my Laptop. My Samsung phone, my iPad Mini, and my Amazon Fire tablet all can find the Ezcast box no problem, and I can listen to my music library on my HFi. Essentially I am still using my mobile phone if I want to listen to music through WiFi on my HiFi. I am receiving an Aptx hd receiver later this week so I will use Bluetooth, but I would rather use Wifi. It seems it's not possible to stream to WiFi out of the M9. Has anyone managed to do this? The problem would be very easily solved by having a music casting app on the M9 but Fiio have not got one whitelisted, even on the new firmware, strange to say the least. Unfortunately it seems the M9 cannot stream out through WiFi at the moment. Such a simple issue to resolve. Very poor. In other usage with IEMs or Bluetooth I do love this little player. Very sophisticated sound through my Tin Audio T2s and T2 pros. It is a very musically refined but exciting sounding player and I do not want to sell it. But please Fiio, I know you read these posts so please solve the problem. To me it's a major problem. I would like to play my music library from my M9 on my HiFi system using WiFi. It's not a big complicated thing to do and would put you ahead of the other DAP makers.

Very nice..... More apps to the list....
But what do you do with the suggestions mentioned here??

Another third party player with more dedicated NAS features?
And TuneIn?

Investigating ?? Trying ?? Or is it a no go?

Okay... I guess i never looked further in Es file explorer than the file management.

But Es file Explorer is more than a file manager it's a. Media Player, browser.. . Etc etc.

We can even acces the web on ES explorer.. And yes we even can watch Youtube.... OK the last isn't the smoothest of course. But hey it's possible....

I actually haven't had the chance to test the balanced output as I do not have balanced cables for any of my headphones yet, so I don't think I can help you. I can say though, I have a campfire comet and I love using it with the SE output on the Q1mkii, so perhaps our tastes differ.
