FiiO M6-FiiO releases the new firmware 1.0.2 for M6
Feb 10, 2019 at 4:12 PM Post #31 of 84
I bought the M6 along with my friend after getting to hear about the M6 from one of our common friends at our workplace. The device is good but can be better if some changes/additions can be made.

1. Please add some VPN service to the player since most of the users in India and other developing countries cannot use most of the whitelisted apps because these services are not yet available here.

2. If you cannot or do not want to add a VPN service, then please whitelist the following apps and I'm sure that the M6 will start selling in India like hot cakes: Saavn, Gaana, Wynk, and JioMusic.

3. Please add Youtube.

Good afternoon FiiO,
I am not sure if you know abot the bug in the FiiO Music app (I guess so because the file system doesn't show this).
The german umlauts and characters in the tags are shown as chinese characters:

Thank you for your effort!
Dear friend,

You could send you music files to us via email. We will report to the engineer for checking.

@FiiO

Please have your engineers test this hi res song via Qobuz wifi download to M9

Beggars Banquet (white album Art)
"No expectations"
Or
"Jigsaw puzzle"

192k 24 bit via Qobuz Sublime+ subscription

the audio is full of cracks and pops on my M9 and sounds bad.

All songs have crackles - but it's easier to hear on these quiter songs.

I would be great if other Qobuz using M9 owners could also test these tracks!

I am using the left down arrow link to download albums. (I find the option within the album info page only allows a maximum "CD quality" download).

Further:
I am not using wifi on playback.
Rebooting doesn't fix it
Changing Bluetooth codec doesn't fix it
Removing charging power doesn't fix it
The crackles are intermittent - they don't occur at the same song times

Thank you

Dear friend,

Does other album in 192k 24bit have the same issue? Did you check another app with 192k 24bit as well?

Best regards

FIIO MUSIC WORKS OK

All WiFi downloaded "offline: albums @ 192k 24bit on Qobuz M9 app have the same fault (clicks and pops)

CORRECTION! THIS ONLY SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH BLUETOOTH Transmission of 192k 24bit files from Qobuz from the M9

It happens via LDAC and Atpx HD to Radsone ES100
And
It happens via SBC to my Bose QC20 Bluetooth headphones

So there is a fault with M9 Bluetooth transmission (Or 192k 24bit playback) when Qobuz is playing 192k 24bit files

Dear friend,

But the same issue does not happen in other APPs when using the same Bluetooth headphones? Is the Wifi turning on at the same time?

Best regards

Only Qobuz.(With 2 different blutooth reciver / headphones)
Radsone ES100 (LDAC, Atpx HD)
Bose QC30 (SBC)

WiFi off

The crackle sound is intermittent so it not corrupted files. It is a playback issue only.

Is you lab able to test playback of 192k files in Qobuz offline library Via Bluetooth?

One user and me in the Fiio M6 thread also encountered character encoding issues. See these posts: this, and this. In my case, characters like é and Ø display as garbled Chinese characters (see my screenshots below). Oddly enough, as also shown on my screenshots below, the Chinese characters issue doesn't occur when navigating songs on folder view. This also occurs on FiiO Music app for other Android phones, not just the particular version of FiiO Music for M6.

Screenshots in question:

@FiiO @JamesFiiO : I am hoping that the character encoding issues (and also the alphabetical sorting in Folder view without the use of external FAT32/exFAT folder sorting programs ) could be fixed in a future firmware update.

True, somebody reported this for accented characters in Spanish titles (é, á and also ñ). I think it all relates to some issue with Unicode text handling in the modified Android version in M6.
Definitely this doesn't happen in my Android Phone's FiiO app (Screenshot below from my Moto G5 phone).. The strange thing is the file manager in M6 shows the characters without issues, it seems.

I wonder if the Music App in M6 is any different from the one in the Play Store (a special version for the M6).
I guess I am one of those people you were referring to, haha. Yeah, as mentioned on my post above, the odd thing is that the accented characters display as it should on the file manager/folder view.

Regarding M6's Fiio Music app, it appears to have its own special version, as appearance- and interface-wise, the general Android version (e.g. the one you could download on the Play Store for your phones/tablets) is different.

Help needed with my Fiio M7.
Is it possible to have navigation where I can go back step by step in my artist's list, so I don't have to start over from the very beginning?
The artists are organized in alphabetical order, so when I play e.g. ZZ Top and want to switch to Yanni, I have to scroll through from the artists whose name starts with "A"!
It's really annoying especially when I have hundreds of artists on my list.

I can't even go back and forth in a folder where the artist has more albums available:
e.g. from album3, I can't go back to album2 or 4, then to Artist1 and Artist2

Artist1>
>>Album1
>>Album2
>>Album3
>>Album4
Artist2>
>>
>>

I remember it was a problem (for me) with the Fiio X1 as well but it has been fixed.
Please let me know if I'm doing something wrong or there's a fix for this.
Thanks,
