Dear friend,
Were you trying to located the folder instead of the music file in the 'browse files' page? The quick search function could only work for the file name of the music instead of the folder. So you could not locate the folder via this function.

Best regards

You are saying it only works for files within folders? Why wouldn't it quick search through whatever the list is populated with on the current screen? It shows the quick search when there are folders but it doesn't work properly. I have my music well organized Artist/Album/Tracks and the library is very large at 80GB. They media library takes a very long time to update so browse folder works better sometimes on this device. If only the quick search worked properly.

Bugs in current firmware:
- Browse folders doesn't allow quick moving to folders by letter even though the quick letters are shown.
- Sometimes after coming back to the device after some time it is impossible to select item in now playing without going back all the way to artist.
- Lock screen does not show correct battery life. You must unlock to see. Have had no battery life when it showed full several times leaving me with a dead device at the gym.

Sucks bumping the micro SD card and having to wait for it to re-read 70GB of music. Would use browse folder instead if the quick move was implemented correctly.

Dear frank2908,

We could not promise the compatibility. And you could try whether it could work by yourself?

Best regards

Dear Edric Li,

The folders' name are displayed in alphabetical order by default. But the sorting may not be quite correct if the first few letters having the same letters.

Best regards

I think that's exactly the issue I'm having. My folder names are "[year] album", and they are always seem to be sorted in the order of latest addition. Any plan to fix this? Does this bug also exist on the M3 pro? Many thanks.

Dear Edric Li,

You could try to adjust the folders name for help. The sorting in the player may not work quite correctly if the first few letters having the same letters.

Best regards

Software lacks a bit of polish on these unfortunately.

Is the ROM opensourced somewhere? I see there is one for the M5 kernel. Would be interesting to be able to crowdsource patches

Hi

I am the owner of a Fiio M5, bought1,5 year ago. Today, after no special use or damage, the touch screen is not working anymore. I tried to reupload the 1.4.6 and 1.4.7 firmware, but it changes nothing, still no touch screen.
I would like to try a factory reset, but I cannot go into the menus. Is there a magic way to unbrick my player (using computer, special factory rest buttons combination...) or is it a lost cause (very disapointing in that case for a "high end mp3 player")

Any help is welcomed.

Thanks.

Pablo

I ran into the same issue. Nothing worked. Got disappointed and bought a new M5. The old one ended up working after the battery is drained. I'd say set it aside and come back to it in a few day when it dies.

Dear friend,

Sorry to hear about that. It seems to be a hardware issue with the display. You could try to contact the seller for help first. If the seller fails to help, you could contact us via support@fiio.com.

Best regards

Using the 1.4.7 firmware.
According to FiiO's official website: "The volume is adjustable when using PO; the volume is defaulted to the maximum and not adjustable when using SPDIF output, USB Audio or LO."
Yet, when I connect the M5 through the USB to Chord Mojo, I get volume adjustable sound. Meaning everytime I have to max the volume on the M5, and what is more important, have to think about not to forget to lower it down, if using later the PO. Which setting do I miss, to get automatic max volume output when using USB Audio out?

Hi @FiiO, any plans to update M5 ?

Shanling and Hiby have recently released updated versions of their smallest DAPs, M0 Pro and R2 mk2 respectively.

It would be nice to have more competition in the market. Small DAPs, while not strictly "audiophile" are extremely handy at the beach / pool.

What else can I say, summer holidays are just behind the corner :D
