Won't work because the DAC and headphone amp is built into a single chip. There is no line out that you can extract.

I don't really see the point of a line out on this. To me this is supposed to compete with something similar to the Sansa clip or the ipod shuffle I have where no amp is in between the dap and the headphones.

What Rawrster said.  The beauty of the M3 is a truly portable solution.
 
I am loving it - and it's getting far more use when I'm out and about - than even the X1 and X3ii.

Brooko, did you check how M3 deals with easy to drive headphones? I have M50x and I have big hopes with that DAP. My Clip+ loaded with 64 GB of FLAC lasts 8-9 hours on battey. M3 would be the natural successor - small, decently sounding DAP with gapless and microSD slot.

If M3 is quite less anemic in bass than Sansa, I would be veery happy
