Listening to my exotic Obravo Ra 21 C-Cu out of the m17 in enhanced desktop mode- just blown away by how much that extra juice is amping up the listening experience.
Having just used my sp2k with the same IEM on a walk outside, the difference is just uncanny.

Naturally, this is best exemplified through gear that scales a lot depending on what it is being fed by.
The upcoming Roon Ready support will be the icing on the cake for me.

Upcoming? I hope so. It took AK two years to deliver on that promise.. If Fiio come through I'll likely get an M17.

I clearly noticed too from the beginning, that there is a significant sound quality difference when the enhanced audio mode is activated (External DC Mode). So I almost never use the M17 without DC source plugged in.
Though I can't say if it's related to a much better SINAD, but clearly with some of my headphones and IEM (DCA Stealth, HEDDphone One and IE900) we get clearly better low frequencies (deeper and "clearer") and maybe even a enhancement for mid-high/high frequencies too.. I couldn't find a way to compensate it with some PEQ (Neutron) or EQ (Wavelet).

What I noticed too, is that same sound quality impact happens too when I just plug an external 10000mha Samsung battery (12V/2A) in the DC input (with an USB-C to 5.5mm/2.1mm adapter).
So, at this stage, I just imagine it's not really related to the real current available, but seems more or less related with a different path for the juice when DC In is active or not.

For me, the SQ difference is significant enough to catch it without being very concentrated. It will be nice if FIIO fix the firmware issue that the bottom right hard switch could really switch to enhanced audio mode without any confirmation screen, so A/B comparison could be almost instant.

Do you have a link to the kind of adapter you use with the Samsung battery? Would love to try this.

For a while now, I use this battery Samsung EB-U3300XJEGEU 10000mha .. it's powerful enough to activate the Enhanced Audio Mode and charge the M17 at the same time ..
It seems I can use the M17 more or less 6 to 7 hours at 80/120 before switching in "normal mode" with the M17 internal battery

As I have sometimes long overseas trips (more or less 24 hours planes/trains including connections) I will soon try a Samsung 20000 mAh EB-P5300XJEGEU, though I am not sure if I will be able to activate the enhanced audio mode.

I have the Samsung 20000 mAh EB-P5300XJEGEU. It works but, only with the USB-A port so you will need a new cable. Also, You will need a new 45W charger as a 25W won’t charge this unit properly.
