Where do you get your hi-res music from? I am stuck ti Apple Music (Tidal does not work in India) - I would not mind downloading.

I already have M17 and it is definitely not pocketable. I go out twice a week to the office so I am looking for something that can drive some high-end IEMs and be portable. I would be using M17 mainly as my desktop music player. Any suggestions here? I am currently streaming everything from Apple Music / Spotify.

So, today I tried to switch on my 16 months old M17 for a whole hour before I started recording.
It took another 17 minutes (it could have been easily another 2 hours or even a complete failure to boot-up)
Other than some inevitable rubbing against the leather case, the unit, as you can all imagine, has been looked after with meticulous care.
As you can all see at the end of the video, the unit is fully charged but, notice that while failing to boot, the unit won’t charge.
I have tried everything I can think off to resolve it to no avail and sadly, the issue is getting worse with every passing day. I am upset beyond measure.

I'm aware of 4 services in particular, but they are definitely separated by genre:

Pop/rock music

• HDTracks
• ProStudioMasters

Classical/jazz music

• BlueCoastMusic
• NativeDSD

There are probably other HD digital music stores, too (that I am presently unaware of) - but at least you have those 4 to get started.

The new fiio M15s is pretty much a more portable M17... same DAC just different Opamps.... half the cost of M17... they are just now showing up for sale...

But has it the same capacity to drive Overhead phones and a dedicated DC mode to bypass the battery?
Thats what is the usp for me, I use the M17 as a desktop replacement, only on different desks, in living room, homeoffice, in office…

That’s not the case, I downgraded all the way down to 1.02, and tried it, I then upgraded incrementally to 1.06. Every reboot after upgrade/downgrade took several tries for the M17 to boot up. So, it can’t be firmware related.
There could be a loose connection or a failing chip, I don’t know. All I know is that it’s getting worse.

@vishweshji check out the new M15s... its a new DAP from Fiio and has some of the traits of the M17 but more portable like your asking about... Same DAC different opamps ... they are begining to show up for sale now.. and half the price of the M17

@tomi1976 .. depending on your overhead phone requirements to power.. this one has 1.2 watts in overhead mode and yes it does have the DC mode to bypass the battery... actually they updated that requirement and now use the USB port so you can get a quick charger for that option. the M15s is just a smaller portable version of the M17... half the cost and half the output power... think of it as the M17 half brother.. ha ha ha

Whatever I decide to do with my time and nerves, is something that I don’t think you should be getting concerned about.
This is the M17 thread, it will eventually be sent for repairs/replacement. But, as you may well understand, I am reluctant to send a £1500 DAP all the way to china. FiiO has a dealer here in the UK and I am trying to arrange things with all concerned. I am keeping everyone updated in regards to this issue, and will continue to do so as things move in either direction.
