WELL into this thing. It's pretty much the polar opposite of the X5mk2 I had before, but the little thing served me well and will be given to a friend this weekend.

Following a mind blowing experience listening to the m17 of @Sajid Amit , I couldn’t resist but order my own unit. It arrived yesterday. I’ll post more impressions as I spend more time with mine but I’ll just say my initial thoughts remain the same as they were when I heard his unit: no DAP should have the right to sound this massive. Fiio did something stupendously good with this one.

I'm debating between the m17 and k9 pro.

My worry with the m17 is battery. How long do you expect the battery to last, before its not very usable anymore.

With the k9 pro I don't need to worry about that.

Also does the k9 pro have super capacitors the same as the m17?

What you need to consider first is what kind of form factor you need.
If you are not going to use the M17 as DAP and it is going to be stationary at your home then you better get the K9 Pro and save some money except if you don't have enough space.
If you decide for the M17 and use it at home with the DC in then you don't have to worry about the battery.

They sound close enough but I cannot provide in depth comparison ATM.
For the battery you don't have to worry if you are going to mostly use it with the DC mode.

As you can configure with Android 10 à battery protection at 85% max, it should take years before altering it. Then with DC input, you bypass totally the battery. So I don't expect any issue with M17.

Thank you, it seems I was downloading an incompatible file, this one worked fine.

Btw, I was hoping to see some UI improvements such as:
1) ability to see the current volume (or the back arrow) when album cover is white
2) an easier way to scroll through letters (currently they are on the right side and very narrow, making it frustratingly hard to manipulate)

So I listened to the m17 and k9 pro a few hours ago.

The m17 has a noticeably warmer sound then the k9 pro. Base is also elivated on the m17

I've got the empire ears legend x. Too much base on the m17 but just right on the k9 pro. The empire ears evo was great on the m17.
The fiio fd5 was also great on the m17.

I've given back my d90se + A90 stack. It wasn't engaging. It took all the fun out of the music.

I've been using M17 since December 5th with some IEMs and headphones.
I'm satisfied with the value for the price. Compared to some DAPs (which very expensive) during the "same period released".
I think it's a good choice when used with Full-Size headphones.
