Ahhh ok, that's why is not mqa on dac mode. Ok
I’m not sure how dependant XMOS controllers specification to MQA decoding (I mean, just DAP or both DAP and DAC modes). 208 is 8 cores microcontroller; 216 is 16 cores. F means 512 RAM size.

I guess both models has enough processing performance in MIPS

For example, my first search resulted with FiiO Q5s DAC/Amp which uses XUF208 and capable of MQA..

Ok, explain me the main difference
No please? And no question mark at end of sentence, does not denote a question, but rather = a demand(!), Like (spoon) feed me!😄

I've only made a question
English can be vague and so needs punctuation ❗
Otherwise, not a question 😮

I am not going to spoonfeed such people.
Hohohoooo, triggered 😄, been there, done that😅

It's not a cocky response, there's a misunderstanding, sorry
Glad you hopefully cleared that up.

Is MQA a filetype that you would want?
I thought it was inferior to Flac.
Maybe a choice for streaming?

I repeat, it's a question not a flame. Everything is fine, but no one has yet explained to me why this "weird" and why you could not have MQA encoding in DAC mode. Please, FiiO could you clarify this aspect once and for all? Thanks so much
I don't have the answer; I'm a fan of good old fashion FLAC/WAV files. MQA not for me. The only origami I like is when I eat Japanese.

But, respectfully, if you're not even invested in using MQA files and are asking just out of some whimsical curiosity, then maybe you can ask on a tech board where these matters are discussed at length. As I said above, it's time-consuming to respond, and - to paraphrase Gordon Gekko - time is money.

He just can't read or want to play the wise guy that can ask the trick questions which no one knows. It is explained in my first reply that the USB DAC audio data is most probably not passing through the SoC / main controller where the MQA data is being unpacked during normal DAP operation. It is directly being fed to DACs. This is at least the case for most DAPs.

I got a couple questions. Anyone using this on linux got any pulseaudio configs to get the M17 to have a sample rate higher than 44.1kHz using USB mode?

Second question but the specifications for the M17 suggest you can get 768kHz in USB mode, but I can only get384kHz. I think there's probably a setting on the M17 but I don't know where it's at.

Yes, you are right, XMOS 216 has more resource to handle more features . M17 is used XMOS 208 which has limited resource so we can't make it support MQA .

M17 can't supports 768k when it work in DAP mode. it is limited by the FPGA's resource .

Hi, does anyone use the coaxial output to connect to power amp?
i'm asking because i wanted to know if M17 DAC is good enough as one portable desktop solution for my speaker setup,
or another choice will be K9 Pro solely dedicated
