There doesn't appear to be much of an incentive for me to buy the Pro over the standard 11.

Well it does for me as it's more musical for me. Wider soundstage comparing to M11 which is more in your face. Bass is more rumbling and Mid is my favorite. Especially female vocal . :D Do give it a try

I probably won't for the price difference being offered.

On a separate note, I'm curious to know for those who have it how well third party apps work with it. Are their any music players besides the default one that people recommend?

I did tried Neutron which requires a PHD in order to use it due to it's interface which i finds it complex, the usual Poweramp and Hiby player. End in end, i stick to Fiio as i normally switch over to Pure Music Mode which the M11/M11 Pro can. Whereby Pure Music Mode runs in Fiio Player

Does anyone know if it's possible to add the same song to a single playlist, multiple times? Recently I wanted to do a 'blind test' between different bit & sample rates of the music I have, so I tried adding the same songs to a singular playlist, in order to shuffle randomly, with no luck.

I have the m11 by the way.
Hello,

Do you mean that you would like to add the same music file to a same playlist? You could add the same music file to different playlists instead.

Best regards

The different file formats would be recognized as different tracks i would think. Otherwise for each file, add a suffix to the title e.g.. let it bee aac, let it be alac, let it be flac24/96 etc

An example of what i wanted to do would be....

Test track 1
Test track 1
Test track 1
Test track 1
Test track 2
Test track 2
Test track 2
Test track 2

All in the same playlist.

Hi,
I havent read thru all 516 pages and couldnt find any definite answers to this. Did Fiio ever add OTG for this device in any of the firmware? Has anyone had any luck running external drives? Thanks!

Hello,

It is not supported. Or you could try to change the songs to different name and format for help.

Best regards

Which is exactly what I posted above
And I appreciate the help.

I also had another issue that I wanted to bring up, and that is clipping in certain formats. Whenever I play my files that are in either DSD256 or DXD, the clipping is there constantly throughout the whole track.

Of course, there are no actual benefits to having such files as they provide no sonic benefit, but I'd prefer not to go through the trouble of down-sampling. Is there a way this can be fixed?

Please ignore this, the problem has been found.

+1,
had it on my Fiio X5 (1st gen) but was taken out by a FW change.
had it on my Fiio X5 (2nd gen) and again was taken out by a FW change.
a pity because I used that to test new albums before adding them to my library.

By the way, has anyone compared the M11 to the X5 II? After 5 years it might be time for an upgrade to a DAP with (stable) WIFI and BT with no dropouts when screen goes dark/idle.
