@FiiO,

So does the M11 support OTG with external hard drives or was that never implemented in any FW?
Thanks!
It's probably due to hardware limitation too, afaik the USB C port doesn't supply enough power for peripherals that doesn't supply their own power.

I could only get my USB dac to function with my powered USB C to USB A adapter, not with the unpowered dongle.

+1,
had it on my Fiio X5 (1st gen) but was taken out by a FW change.
had it on my Fiio X5 (2nd gen) and again was taken out by a FW change.
a pity because I used that to test new albums before adding them to my library.

By the way, has anyone compared the M11 to the X5 II? After 5 years it might be time for an upgrade to a DAP with (stable) WIFI and BT with no dropouts when screen goes dark/idle.
I went from the X5 II to the M11 ... Still have my X5 actually. After 5 years its time you retire the X5 and go with the M11. There are sooo many features on the M11 compared to the X5II and I'm sure you've done research on it. Soundstage is better and bigger. I loved my X5II and was very skeptical about the upgrade. I'm glad I did. This is so much player for the money! I would recommend it highly. Good luck!

Hhmm... I had it on my X5II but it was buggy so Fiio pulled it on later FWs. I have a few hard drives that are powered and am wondering if it would play from there. I have read that it will recognize the drive but wont play files. I unfortunately dont remember if there were more details other than that though. Would be easy enough to test if I had a cable but I dont. I guess I'll break down and order one at some point. Thanks for the info btw!

It was never buggy on my X5, and why not leave it in for those users that do NOT have problems it. Is it too much to ask to have the functionality advertised? :)
back to the original question does the m11 support USB OTG?

Hi FiiO,
thanks for Version 1.0.9 just got it OTA :wink:
Is the changelog the same as on the M15 1.0.2?
Most of the points are there ...
1. Added Google Play framework(if you do not need it, you could unistall it from Settings->Apps->Google Play services);
2. Added FiiO Music widget(long press the homepage to pop up widget lists, and then choose FiiO Music to put it on the homepage);
3. Added grouping tracks by Album Artist category(You can select the Artist or Album Artist in the Settings->Artist List Display. This upgrade requires a database update, please scan for music again.);
4. Added displaying volume level numbers on the status bar(You can enable it in the Settings->Display->Volume display);
5. Added a new feature of scrolling displaying the currently played track while in a playlist;
6. Added a new feature of automatically pausing the playback after playing for 2 minutes without any headphones plugged in, so as to avoid triggering playback by mistakes;
7. Added global USB Audio output (from now on you can get USB Audio with no SRC for all third-party apps; currently only the PCM format is supported, the DSD format will be added in future update);
8. Fixed the issue where the Gapless playback would not work when playing DSD tracks;
9. Fixed the issue where the WiFi connection might drop when the screen is locked;
10. Fixed the issue where some buttons would still work when HOLD is set to ON;
11. Fixed the issue where a few types of tracks could not be played properly;
12. Fixed the issue where there might be noise when playing in Tidal with All to DSD set to ON;
13. Improved the sorting by Artist (now the articles 'the, a, an' at the beginning of the names will be ignored);
14. Improved the sorting of Japanese characters;
15. Improved the rule of HR audio quality classification (according to the JEITA standard);
16. Miscellaneous improvements on performances.
Note:
If you have installed the FiiO Music standalone version before upgrading the firmware, there will be two FiiO Music icons on the home page after the upgrade. To restore it, you can go to Settings -> Apps -> FiiO Music, tap "DISABLE" and then "ENABLE".

This is so much player for the money!

This! One thousand times this!
Sitting here working (ok, taking a head-fi break from work) with Mozart's Requiem being effortlessly pushed through the Ananda's by this wonderful DAP.
Despite some small issues (for me) I was happy with the X5 and the X5iii but the M11 really is just an 'all boxes ticked' choice for me. Won't be changing for a while!!!

Hi @FiiO or if anyone else can help.

I have a frustrating issue in that I cannot remove app icons from the homescreens. Usually with Android, I long press the icon and can remove it from display; no such ease with Fiio M11. Ive gone through all the settings, and no joy there either. Any ideas?

Cheers!

@FiiO

Re: release of firmware 1.0.9

...You AGAIN state there is gapless playback for DSD when there isn't, and after I already flagged this in the beta firmware post, to which you replied you would have your engineer look into it. This is not the case...DSD files are still not gapless.

Are you talking about Firmware Version 1.0.9 ?
Gapless playback for DSD should have been fixed with this version according to the changelog.
Still not working for you?

Yes...correct. 1.0.9

The beta version promised the fix too - but other people over in that thread also noticed it wasn't fixed, and now with the final release - still not fixed.
