Has anyone tried Fiio LC-RE Pro with Campfire Solaris 2020 yet ? Please share your opinions :D Thank you very much :D
I have the non-pro LC-RE that I've been using with the Ara and original Solaris with very good results. Usually I use the Reference 8 cable, so to find something that is as good with interchangeable plugs has been great.
Do you have a 3.5mm balanced plug for the LC-RE?
I don't imagine they'll bother making one, as that's a non-standard connection that isn't in use any more (and any manufacturer still using it really needs to ditch it).

Very disappointed with the cable. After one year, one side oxidized pretty badly.

I don't see any oxidation in the picture. The only conductor that would oxidize is the copper one and it looks fine from what I can see.

Gold does it oxidize; however, if it is less than 14kt then it’s base metal can tarnish especially if there are pores or cracks. Tarnish really has no connectivity impact as it is self sealing at the very surface. This assumes that you got a genuine FiiO cable. I have had mine for a couple of years and see no green colorations.

Sorry to hear about that. Did you buy the cable from the authorized seller in Aliexpress? If the seller does not reply, please contact support@fiio.com with the receipt attached.
Best regards

using them with OG solaris. Interesting sound, enough weight, a bit laid back, but still big in presentation. For reference I own the Gold 16, SXC 8, and REF 8 plus a bunch of other cables.

I bought the Pro version of the RE today. I’m not a huge believer in cables changing sound, but I think it definitely helps - especially if the previous cable wasn’t the best quality.

4.4mm balanced is great and feels super sturdy. The RE Pro definitely sounds better than the Smoky Litz cable I was using for my IOs. The pro version feels a little more refined than the non-pro RE in terms of build quality. I did have an MMCX connector pop out because it wasn’t glued properly, but the store replaced the cable on the spot.

The RE and RE Pro sound pretty similar, maybe a little different; but they use the same wiring. Overall for the price, and where it sits with other cables, I really think the RE Pro is worth the money.

I just noticed that FiiO came out with the "Pro" version along with the silver plated LC-RD. I must say I do not like that they ditched the right-angle connector system. This looks less expensive to produce and I not opining on the sound. I just find having a straight connector on a mobile system where the player is typically in a pocket produces unneccesary stress on the cable at the connector rear.

Haha! YMMV and all that! My solution, in the case of the LC-RE is to just get both! When out and about, I use the OG with the right-angled connectors and when connecting out of my stack, I use the Pro with the straight connectors. Works for me. Problem is finding the OG is not so easy now.

MMCX connectors are typically spec'd for only 500 insertions so I'm not a fan of that approach.

Dear friend,

Thanks for the feedback. Some users like the right-angle plug and some prefer the in line plug. The in line plug would not affect the connection in USB port for some device comparing with right-angle plug. We will also report your feedback to the product manager.

Best regards

Agree. I appreciate both for different reasons and so I just bought both! Problem solved for me!
