These pads have a proprietary method of connection, so fitting non-Fiio pads may be a little dicey. I'd be careful with pad swapping as it might change the signature a bit. Fiio has advertised a 2nd set of mesh ear pads but, right now, they are made of "unobtainium".Has anyone managed to find replacement pads? I'm having an issue with my ears touching the drivers causing discomfort. I've checked Brainwavz but they don't have a size which would fit.
I've been using these for my commute on CalTrain in Norcal. I find they are exceptionally good for passive ANC, but I play my music "LOUD" already so YMMV.According to your description, I cannot clearly recommend them to you. The EH3 NC are not neutral sounding per definition.
In my opinion they have a nice emphasis on mid-bass and can go very deep in the very lows but with a certain precision (definitely not like the Sony's do!). I also like the mids and the highs a lot with the EH3 NC, they make them sound good also for vocal recordings and classic music, and when there's no bass in the music, there is also no in the headphones... Or in other words, these headphones are my Swiss army knife for commuting since I do like to listen to many different genres of music.
Long story short, maybe you give them a try, for below 200 bucks they might do it for you.... Or you give the Dali iO-6 a chance, they seem to be definitely more on the neutral side according to many reviewers here.
