FiiO Earbuds Discussion & Impressions Thread

It's most certainly been awhile since I've been around, and I'm glad to see Fiio has been making a push in this direction. When I saw the EM5 at a reasonable price I decided why not, which lead to me noticing these as well. Maybe I should try the FF3/5. As a long time earbud lover, I'm always happy to see the format still lives.

Just for fun, does anyone have the FF3 and the Koss Porta Pro? How would you compare them?
The Portapros were my "go to" for years, but I do not own them currently.

They do share some characteristics with the FF3 (a full sound and a mid-bass emphasis that may not be "reference" but are a fun/engaging listen). It would be interesting to try the Portapros again, as going by memory I believe the FF3's may offer a better detail retrieval and an overall tone that sounds slightly more natural to me.

I received my FF5 a few days ago from fiio-shop. de but I have a bit of a problem. I dropped my dap on the floor and this bent the 3.5mm jack. Can't believe it - first day! I bent it back as straight as I can but I can't get it perfect so is it possible to get a replacement? Is this same removable jack used in other models? @FiiO
I don't want to buy an alternative cable. I'm not unhappy with the stock one, I think it's rather good actually. I don't find it heavy or sticky as other have said. It does curl up a bit at the jack side but it's not that bad.

Congrats on your new shiny! :)

You can purchase a new one for very cheap from them. I am assuming that you only bent the tip, and didn't damage the connector on the cable side?!

Dear friend,

Sorry to hear about that. You could try to contact the seller for help first. If the seller fails to help, please contact support@fiio.com about that.

Best regards

Yeah just the tip.

The German based store I bought them off them offered me a replacement for 15 euros. Is that what you'd mean by very cheap, or do you think I could one elsewhere like allixpress, like for 2 bucks lol
I'm in Ireland btw so prolly that offer was mostly for postal charge.

Yeah, with shipping I think that is somewhere in the range. I think in US dollars it is $10 by itself, without shipping cost added on.

Dear friend,

Do you have another players or DAC which have 4.4mm output port for check? It seems to be the problem with the 4.4mm adapter of the FF5.
If the issue remains, please contact your seller about that first. If the seller fails to help, please contact support@fiio.com with the receipt attached.

Best regards

Yes
I try the ff5 with a topping dx3 (with the 3.5), same problem.
Plus now is getting worse and start crackling even a low volume.
I return the headphone to amazon.

So thanks to the guys from the Earbuds Round-Up https://www.head-fi.org/threads/earbuds-round-up.441400/ thread I purchased my first Earbuds – the Fiio FF3 – about 7 months ago.

Fairly, I never thought Earbuds could sound this great. And for just around 100$. I’m still impressed by them with some of my music, especially the Sound/Headstage is surprisingly big with decent enough imaging. Even better than some of my (pricier) open-back headphones.

Reason why I’m making this post now is because I just changed the foams for the first time. Before, I was using the Balanced foams which I thought were the best. But as I just put on the Crisp foams these Buds became even better. The notch in the middle of the foam really helps to bring out more details in the treble and the mids feel a bit more refined. How awesome is this? 😁

Thanks again for promoting these buds everyone!
