Nope I have not found anything in the price range that seems to be comparable. But don't worry, I'll be buying the E9/E7 and using the E7 bass boost (1), warming up the sound a bit. The E9 is told to be very clean sounding with the HD 800...

I have the fiio E9/E7 i use it with my sennheiser pxc450, it has plenty of power i have never had to turn the volume dial past 10'O'clock, the e9/e7 doesn't add or take anything away from the sound, the bass sounds like the way it was mastered to sound , so if the bass in the track is deep and loud the e9 will play it as deep and loud, you can hear a little bit of added warmth and quite a large soundstage from the wolfson  chip that is all.

No , you can't with the E7 docked in the E9, i don't miss it though since the e9 has better bass extension than the e7 only it's not really needed anymore.

It's supposed to be no loss in SQ if you plug the E7 into the line in/out (not sure) on the E9. Then the E9 is still doing the amping part and the E7 doing it's job as a dac.

^ This is correct. The new L7 will allow the E7's line out to be used so you can get the same quality and performance connecting to the E9, or other amplifier for that matter without having to dock. The flexibility of connecting to other amps is going to be the biggest advantage here, but the E9 and E7 were meant to be.

I have a sendstation pocketdock line out USB, a 3,5 mm cable connected to this should do right? Don't have to buy an L7. 
 
Man I know headphones, but cables is a weak spot in my experience.

The original E7 LOD cable was canceled due to complaints about the design. Since then FiiO has remodeled the LOD as a line out kit, the L7:
