Hi, are you running win10 or win 11? Maybe you could try another USB slot or cable? We have not yet heard this problem before.
Windows 11, tired a USB-C port and a regular USB port. Both crackle

I tried reinstalling the drivers, I factory reset my BTR7, I've also installed the newest 5.68 version, still the same crackling. Honestly at a loss what could be causing this.

EDIT: uninstalling the FiiO USBC-Dac driver seems to remove the issue completely... I wonder if a faulty driver is the issue at play.

And of course I had to order the BTR17, should have it next week. Ordered the blue colour from Aliexpress to take advantage of the 11/11 sale.

I'm very excited to try the AptX Lossless since my phone supports it, I'm really curious if the BT connection will be stable at high enough bitrates for lossless.

It is due to the different power management policies of some computers. Please go to the settings menu of Control panel->Hardware and Sound->Power options to disable the "USB selective suspend setting" and then restart the computer.
If it still can't be solved, please choose the driver-less mode. Uninstall the DAC driver and ASIO

after the single day sale, though there's no special discount, i decided to get a BTR17 to replace my beloved BTR7. Aptx lossless and the vol wheel are big improvement even not counting on the increased power output in desktop mode (which is pretty much irrelevant to me as i use only in BT mode).

order placed on 12/11 and in 14/11 afternoon, the package already reached my home. the box is actually quite small (but not sony xm series small). the aluminum body and vol wheel look and feel very well made. the protective jacket is not that great though - both the color is odd and the design seems a bit dated.

pairing very swiftly with my phone and the vol. wheel works very well. it turns with precise clicks and the button press with clear tactic feel.

the output is not that great though - i've to turn to high gain, vol 45 (60 max) for annihilator Ti 2023 (could dial up a few steps in fact). for more efficient nostalgia audio tesseract, i could live with low gain at vol. 35 (there're only two gain levels : high and low).

on my short listening session with both iems so far, there's no hiss at all and the same clean, balance sound of THX amp module is still there. another happy purchase from fiio. btw, the fiio control app can't control the gain level. and it's a bit weird that the firmware ver is v0.41. why not v1.0 for the retail ver?

Does it sound that much better than the BTR7 in Wireless mode?

How is the tuning?
Did you compare it with other sources?
I’m in love with my DC06 pro and if BTR17 is similar but better I’d buy it

Hi, yes, FIIO control can not adjust the gain level now. I will send this feedback to our R&D team.

tuning is not that much different than BTR7. but there seems less gain than in BTR7. i need to dial up the vol quite a bit comparing with BTR15 and BTR7. not a fair comparison, shanling H7 outputs a a lot more vol even just at low gain mode but not yet have time try other portable sources

Is anyone who has the btr17 already able to check what kind of LE Audio codec it supports? It has BT 5.4 but i didnt see anything written about LC3 or aptx-Lite support. Does it work over LE Audio with LE Audio USB dongles? Using either LC3 or aptx lite?

Aesthetically prefer btr7 over btr17, looks ugly with that protuberance.
I prefer the BTR17 :) The wheel is a bit like the wheel of the good old R2R2000

Seems there are 2 threads going on lol

Got mine today, Wired its quite a bit of improvement compared to the btr7. Its cleaner more resolving and the bass is a bit more controlled yet not lacking. Loving it so far. Its basically the same size also. There is def much more power delivery when wired compared to the btr7 also but less when on bluetooth and volume is around the same settings there. Great impressions all around.

Edit. FYI. Even on Bluetooth when its plugged in there is a huge bump in power delivery so be aware of that if you swap to Desktop Mode while on bluetooth, this mode bypasses the battery and boosts the power quite a bit.

Hi in bluetooth mode is there much difference in sound quality compared to the btr7?
This is a loaded question since quality is very subjective lol

To me I say yes there is. It uses a different dac than the btr7 it is also capable of aptx lossess which technically allow for higher quality than the btr7 if your phone allows it.
I have both and the btr17 sounds cleaner over ldac compared to the btr7.

This also depends on the headphones you are using.
