Complete tangent from the above, just thought I'd share using the BTR7 in a professional context as a source to feed the assistive hearing system I'm testing at work. One of the other bits of hardware we've got came with those handy 4.4mm <-> XLR cables you see in the photo.

I’ve noticed that the pop exists but it’s never been a big enough pop to cause me any concern, especially now that I’m running an IEMatch in-line with all the more sensitive IEMs I use.

Thanks for recommending ifi IEMatch in-line. That’s very helpful to protect your valuable iem.
Absolutely. A note for the unfamiliar though, they sell the IEMatch in 3.5mm, 2.5mm and 4.4mm but it’s the same termination on both ends, they don’t make any that go from, say a 4.4mm connection to a 2.5mm or a 3.5mm to 4.4. There are adapters that exist, but they don’t attenuate the signal like the IEMatch does, they’re a different product.

Even with an IEMatch in-line the BTR7 still has bags of power to drive your IEMs 👍

True Lossless Bluetooth, Portable Bluetooth DAC and Headphone Amplifier BTR17 Is Officially Released!

A new chip era, new era of lossless Bluetooth
The BTR17 is equipped with Qualcomm’s new flagship QCC5181 Bluetooth chip, which not only complies with the Bluetooth LE Audio standard and has transmission bandwidth capacity of 2.1Mbps, but also is capable of lossless quality within the aptX Adaptive system. This means the chip is capable of achieving CD-level lossless sound quality over Bluetooth audio, bringing you ever closer to the music with all of its intricate details.

Additionally, the BTR17 also supports the latest Bluetooth standard – Bluetooth 5.4. It also supports the LDAC, aptX Adaptive 96kHz/24bit, aptX Low Latency Bluetooth audio codecs, which when combined with Snapdragon Sound technology means your Bluetooth listening experience has never sounded this good before.

Patented Desktop Mode, independent power supply
On the BTR17 is a dedicated D.Mode (desktop mode) switch along with a port to connect an external independent power supply. When in desktop mode, if you connect the BTR17 to a phone as a dongle DAC and headphone amplifier you can also choose to connect an external power supply to the BTR17 via its dedicated power port. Doing so means that the BTR17’s battery will be completely powered via USB, which not only avoids overcharging and over-discharging its built-in battery but also means it is capable of powerful audio output, up to 650mW+650mW in balanced out, without consuming the connected phone’s battery.

Dual cores and four channels, dual flagship ES9069Q DACs
Inside the BTR17 are two ESS ES9069Q DACs based on the fourth-generation 32-bit HyperStream architecture, achieving high performance while using less power. This architecture helps to further reduce digital noise within the DAC. The result is a richer, musical sound against a cleaner audio background.

XMOS 16-core XU316, cleverly innovating
The USB chip employed is the flagship XMOS XU316, which boasts lower latency, more stable transmission, and better compatibility than typically used USB controllers. Support for 768kHz/32bit audio, DSD512 native, and MQA full decoding means that the chip can handle almost any audio stream that comes its way.

FIIO engineers have worked constantly to create 10-band high-precision lossless PEQ based on the XU316 platform, which supports up to 192k high-definition PEQ and can be adjusted through the app and web interface. Not only does it allow you to finely adjust EQ frequency points, gain, bandwidth, and Q value to your liking, and simulate or correct the frequency response curve of various headphones, but you can also import, export, share, and save EQ curves, enabling everyone to enjoy the fun of tuning.

Hi everyone

When using my BTR7 on my windows PC with exclusive mode on Tidal, as well as foobar I get these annoying pops and crackles. Even using youtube I still get the same crack and pop sounds every now and then. Im on FiiO driver 5.30 and my BTR7 seems up to date.

Has anyone encountered this issue? It seems to play back DSD files just fine with ASIO but even in those files I get very bad crackles that are super loud.

Hi, are you running win10 or win 11? Maybe you could try another USB slot or cable? We have not yet heard this problem before.

This happens usually when the USB port is not providing enough power, usually USB-C ports. Try plugging into a normal full size USB port.
