Dear Fiio,

Having used it for 2 days, I have only 2 major gripes (apart from small other ones which are for the most part just annoying and can be ignored/fixed after a restart).
  1. The device heats up while being used while charging. I know thats how its supposed to work, but I am talking extremely hot. Which can't be good for battery health (taking out of the cover helps but still its very warm to say the least). Maybe an option to turn off bluetooth and screen would be nice to preserve battery usage in usb mode. (Wish there was a bypass mode to use the usb source for power but oh well)
  2. Second point is related to the first itself I think, but the battery life is abysmal (4-5 hours ldac, SE high gain). I would love to get atleast 6 hours before worrying about battery. Long term usage will reduce the battery life even more, which is scary. The battery indicator is also unreliable both in app and device connected to it (only shows in intervals of 20).
  3. Small issues :
    1. Some times Bluetooth disconnects occur when 2 devices are connected, and one of the device would randomly disconnect.
    2. Sometimes battery indicator disappears!
    3. In usb mode (uac 2.0) the battery charges to full and then doesn't charge again for subsequent discharges until I toggle the charging switch to off and then on again. (This is on mac, haven't used on windows yet)
The sound is amazing and I just want to be able to use it for long periods (battery life) and in general for a long time (battery health).

What is your headphones impedance?

Dear friend,

We have reported this feedback to the engineer and they are still assessing. We will try to report again.

Best regards

Thank you so much, that will be very useful to me and other users I believe.

I'll be waiting. I guess its from the fiio music app (so the UTWS5 also can have this additional PEQ and custom name)

Dear friend,
1. Did you try to charge the BTR7 via another charger and usb cable? And Bluetooth connection will be turned off when using USB DAC mode if your BTR7 is using the firmware higher than 1.85.
2. Which output are you using? And what about the volume level? You could test the battery life following this form to check again:

Battery Life
About 9h,3.5mm output Bluetooth TransmitteriPhone (AAC)
Connected HeadphonesM3 open earbuds(27Ω)VolumeWith set output at 40mV
3. What's the connected Bluetooth codec when the issue happens? And the charging is supposed to work like that. You could also reconnect the BTR7 to the MAC for charging again.

Best regards

  1. I meant the normal charging flow, while in use (uac mode). While only charging, I am using my powerbank with a normal usb cable (normal, not fast charging).
I assume I shouldn't use the 18W fast charger of my Pixel or any adapter. So during normal charge it doesn't get as hot as being charged while in use. This is particularly worrying if say the device is left plugged in and we may forget to disconnect. (overnight). You could maybe put a setting to turn off device if idle (say more than an hour, etc). I forgot to disconnect it one night and it was very warm in the morning.
  2. I was using unbalanced output. Volume was at 50 (full volume in device - Pixel 7a - using LDAC codec)
  3. I meant the charging doesn't resume after discharging while in use in uac mode unless I :
    1. Disconnect and reconnect the device.
    2. Or toggle the charging switch off and on.

Dear friend,

1. You could check via another charger and cable again?
2. If you are using LDAC Bluetooth, high gain, high volume level, the battery life since to be normal. You could try to check again via the same condition provided in previous form.
3. I checked with the engineer again. When connecting to the computer after fully charged, both the battery and the usb are used for powering the BTR7. But do you mean the battery of the BTR7 will be drained out when connecting to the computer with charge switch on?

Best regards

I've just got my BTR7. Apologies if this has been discussed ad nauseum already but is there any way to use my phone's battery to power the DAC instead of the in-built one? I'll only be listening at home so I'm not too concerned about my phone battery being depleted. Thanks.
