[FiiO BTA30Pro] Create a Comprehensive Home Bluetooth System, FiiO's High Fidelity Bluetooth Transceiver BTA30 Pro!

Jan 25, 2022 at 2:04 AM Post #151 of 377
Dear FiiO,
Ok, so I tried again.

1. Reset both the BTA30 Pro, Sony XM4s and the Qudelix5k to default settings/deleted pairing.
2. Paired the Sony XM4s successfully. Connected everytime I turned it off and on again.
3. Paired the Qudelix5k. Also successfully connected when I turned off and on again. BUT now the Sony won't connect whatsoever!! :frowning2:
Tried everything, tapped the pad, switched to RX and back to TX, disconnected the power/USB etc etc... NO luck :frowning2:

Please advise. I need this to work with both devices, like the NON-PRO did all the time.
Dear friend,

TX (Bluetooth transmitting): connect the BTA30 Pro to the Bluetooth receiving device 1 via the LL/HD button first, and hold button INPUT for about 3s to enter the pairing state again. The BTA30 Pro will automatically search for Device 2 and start to pair with it.
When restarting BTA30Pro and either device, can the reconnection work now?

Best regards

Hi :), and thanks again for answering and helping.

Yes, with one paired with LL/HD button and the other with INPUT, they reconnect as they should! :L3000:

It covers my needs now. My plans are to use these two headsets/devices with the BTA30 Pro.

But if I want to connect a 3rd now? Then what? Will the 1st paired on LL/HD or INPUT still reconnect?
I don't think so, and I don't want to try now. :)

Best regards

:sob:No, only the last two connected devices paired on LL/HD and Input.

Best regards

I Would like to buy fiio bta30 pro ONLY for connecting my Sony wf-1000xm4 headphones to my PlayStation 5 via USB. Does it work ok at this moment with a correct volume?
:sweat_smile:A user told me before that the Bluetooth output volume is too small when using with PS5. But I also got the feedback from other user that the volume level is correct. If you don't mind, you could try by yourself.

Best regards

I am happy to own the BTA30 Pro now however I would be really happy to see Bluetooth TX on a device the size of the BTR5.

This is what it has come to for me, to get LDAC with an iPhone

BTA30-Pro-on-i-Phone-Front.jpg
BTA30-Pro-on-i-Phone-Back.jpg

so, as you can see, the market really needs a portable LDAC transmitter.

Don’t worry about the length of cable there. I have the LT-LT3 on order.

I also own the BTR5 (2021) but use it as a USB DAC and balanced port for my FH5s Pro.

so, my wish list for 2022 from FiiO is:

Portable LDAC TX (why not also add AptX Lossless and AptX Adaptive? Bring Christmas early for us! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: )

MagSafe case for this portable LDAC TX (and MagSafe case for BTR5 2021)

UTWS with LDAC

Now that Apple Music has lossless and Hi-Res, there should be a big market for iPhone, iPad and Mac owners who need the technology to get better Bluetooth audio than Apple has provided-to-date. I know the rumours are that Apple will launch a new lossless-over-wireless technology of its own this year but we can’t be sure. Hopefully it will be open source and we might see it included in a UTWS design too.

@mcnaugha the Shanling M0 apparently does this since a firmware update. It's a very small DAP unit. The comparably small Fiio M5 doesn't do it but larger Fiio DAPs may do. I think the Shanling M0 is the smallest unit that will do it, it is pretty small, more in the ballpark of the BTR5 than the BTA30 Pro.

So, the Shanling M0 can act as an LDAC TX USB DAC dongle… that’s amazing. I still love my BTR5 for its balanced port and MQA support but this is tempting because FiiO doesn’t have a portable LDAC TX offering like this.

I'm pretty sure the Hiby R3 Pro can do this also (iPhone -> R3 as USB DAC -> R3 as LDAC TX).

Dagnamit, I just rushed into ordering the Shanling M0… this looks really cool… while it’s twice the price of the M0, it could replace both the M0 and the BTR5 2021… and then some. 🤦 It even does TIDAL/Qobuz with 5GHz Wi-Fi. 😱 Mind blown. It‘s also got a balanced out like the BTR5.

I’ve got decisions to make now. Do I return the M0 and the BTR5 or just accept what’s done is done??? 🤷 😂

UPDATE: I did it. Managed to cancel the M0. Activated a return on the BTR5. R3 Pro Saber arriving tomorrow. Thank you for the suggestion!

I can't help you there, but the R3 Pro is indeed a flexible little device. It has the best battery life of all of my DAPs. It also supports MQA rendering on USB as well as normal playback, which is a plus if you are a Tidal MQA fan. It has pretty much replaced my dongle DACs and BT receivers for portable use, especially if traveling. And lastly, it supports both DLNA and Airplay (RX) on my wifi network for better than BT quality and range.

I don't think you will be disappointed. I use mine with USB for high-resolution playback or MQA from my MacBook/iPhone and Airplay for everything else. Wired IEMs, I don't have any LDAC TWS.

Here we are… a good deal better than trying to make the BTA30 Pro portable. While this isn’t a FiiO product, I felt it’s important to show FiiO what the market might want. I purchased a MagSafe sticker ring to add to the case so that it can attach to the back of my iPhone. It’s not as strong as I would like. I would like to see FiiO include a stick-on ring or other MagSafe add-one with their cases.

I was delighted to see AirPlay working but this was only stable on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. It was unusable with 5GHz. Also, I noticed that when using AirPlay with Bluetooth output, it did not display LDAC, suggesting they do not support AirPlay-to-LDAC. I only got the display showing LDAC when using in USB DAC mode. If FiiO was to make a product like this, I think it would be important to make AirPlay-to-LDAC work.

I use Airplay frequently and haven't had any issues although my 2.4GHz and 5GHz are combined (Asus dual-band smart connect). I just checked and I have a 5GHz connection currently. I am able to use Airplay and LDAC at the same time (just tried it with my Q5K). I usually connect BT first and then toggle Airplay. Maybe it's worth another try.
