I use my BTA30 Pro with my Odroid-N2+ running TwisterOS Armbian(Linux Ubuntu based OS) to drive my favorite TWS Sennheiser Momentum 2 and Sony wf-1000xm4 earbuds, Will get another BTA30 Pro soon and set it as a dedicated BT audio transmitter for my Radxa Zero or new Radxa Zero Two ARM SBC handling my Sennheiser CX Plus and Jabra Elite 7 Pro TWS earbuds.

Does it automatically connect every time you turn on the Sony? Also, does LDAC work with the Sony? I'm trying to get something for my TV so that I can feed in optical and output LDAC. I want something that will auto-connect. My TV's BT is real annoying. I have to re-connect everytime I turn the TV on/off.

So, with the pro, you can output LDAC from PC's usb/coax/optical connections?

I do the Sony WF-XM4’s getting LDAC with the TV connected via optical. They seemed to start connecting on their own the 2nd night I was using it and have ever since.

There’s no reason for it not to work with PC via USB and optical.

Sounds hopeful. I think this product is one of a kind. There's no other products that do BT transmission like this one.

Ironically my Sony’s didn’t connect tonight but I think it was their fault. After putting them back in the case and bringing them back out again they connected instantaneously.

It does connect automatically every time. I do agree it's one of its kind. Been looking for long time to improve audio quality via BT from my ARM SBC's running Linux OS's(TwisterOS Armbian). Before, tried several USB Bluetooth dongles and even USB Wireless audio transmitters from Avantree, DG60 and DG80 models but audio quality was subpar.
DG60 Model which is aptX-HD codec compatible but sounded like an AM radio from my Aptx-HD devices.
Also, it works nicely with gaming consoles, In this case PS4 Pro and PS5 ones.

By auto-connect, do we mean auto-connect after power-on the bt headphone after powering it off? Does it take some time for it to learn the paring so it can automatically connect after awhile?

I wish It had a remote.

Also, why does the volume pot adjust BT volume? It's just adding another volume control for me. Do I keep the volume on max?

If you use just one BT headphone with it, it will auto-connect with that on power on. It gets a bit tricky though if you use more than one, sometimes it will work with two but sometimes I have to re-pair them. Anything above two, I think you need to repair each time.

You can disable the volume pot in the app, it's optional. I have it set to not adjust BT volume, so the volume pot does nothing.

Interesting thing is when I brought the BTA30 Pro I tested its sound to Mii USB adapter both using APTX HD connected to the same source. I was surprised how big the difference was between them.
There shouldn't be any difference in transmit, AptX HD is a black box from Qualcomm and should be encoded identically between devices. That's the main positive point of AptX, it's not a particularly good codec technically, but it's the exact same on every device. Other BT codecs such as SBC or AAC may have implementation differences that impact on sound quality, AptX doesn't.

I have another dongle that does AptX HD transmit, I don't notice any difference. If you were talking about receive mode with analog output, the DAC and any analog stage could impact, the 1Mii USB adapter I'm presuming is a transmitter though.

One possible impact could be resampling, the Fiio will accept 44.1/48/88.2/96 input. Some dongles may only accept 48kHz and Windows would resample to that. I'm not sure how audible that is in modern Windows, but it would be something that could be different.

That is correct refering to "auto-connect". Pairing on BTA30Pro takes some time to get used to, some of my many TWS earbuds give me a hard time to pair with BTA30Pro mostly because you have to hold both earbuds buttons and it requires some practice, some other BT audio devices like JBL Xtreme3 and charge 3 and LG Xboom go PK5 are easier to pair to. On Some of other wireless Headsets like audio-technica ATH-M50xBT and ATH-M50xBT2 pairing process is straightfoward.

No, I mean auto-connection right after powered on. I'm not talking about pairing connection. So far, I had to pair everytime.

Like for example, my bt headphones auto-connects to my pc's bt everytime I power it up once the pairing was done. In order to prevent this, I unpair it. To unpair, you need the OS interface.

Without an interface I don't know how this device can manually pair and unpair specific devices.

I think it needs an interface to be more specific and given it's a switcher, remote would be convenient.

What i generally do not see in the market is optical to BT devices for TV if TV bt implementation is dated. So, optical is the only option for me. That's the only nich I don't commonly see addressed along with pc USB to external device LDAC or AptX or AAC codec transmissions.

Another question. How do we change codecs? Do you have to disconnect, change codec and then repair?
You can theoretically swap AptX LL on or off using the LL/HD (A) button single press. That will toggle between AptX LL and whatever the highest other codec the connected device supports that you have enabled (in my case LDAC).

In my case though, with the BTR5, it initially connects with AptX LL, then the button toggles between LDAC and SBC, I can't actually get back to AptX LL with it.
