Hi @FiiO thanks for the reply.

To answer your questions:

1) yes I tried Bypass, had no effect
2) cables are fine and plugged in correctly
3) have tried the different codecs available (LDAC and SBC as Sony MDR1000X does not support APTX and its variants)

Can I ask, does the BTA30 Pro accept Bitstream DTS or only PCM via the optical input? It's possible my TV is outputting Bitstream, though I have no way to measure this. For example, can the BTA30 Pro downmix? Can the Fiio K9 Pro do this? The bit I find so strange is how this is working ok for the K9, but not the BTA30... Maybe there is a difference in what is supported because of the ongoing transmission in the chain when BTA30 is used?
I don't think any transmitters work with anything other than PCM. Every one I've tried says no DTS, etc..

I have to say, this is the best sounding transmitter out in the market. I compared with couple others with AptX HD, and this one sounds better in LDAC, 990kbps.

LDAC, 990kbps has very bad range however. When I used LDAC with good range, it was on Adaptive mode. You can change the bit rate with the FiiO Control App.

This one is unique because it has USB-in to LDAC. There is none in the market that has this feature.

I've tried also a few other BT audio transmitters and none of them offer the audio quality over bluetooth from the BTA30 Pro. I just ordered my 2nd BTA30 Pro. There wasn't much difference using same high quality audio sources to transmit via LDAC with my Sony BT Speaker SRS-XP700 vs Aptx-HD with my BT speaker LG PK7 xboom. LDAC was slightly better but SRS-XP700 is also better and much more expensive than PK7 xboom. Other than WF-1000XM4, I don't have any more BT speakers or TWS earbuds that have both LDAC and Aptx-HD audio codecs. They are not that common or easy to find.

:sweat_smile:A user told me before that the Bluetooth output volume is too small when using with PS5. But I also got the feedback from other user that the volume level is correct. If you don't mind, you could try by yourself.

Best regards

Finally, I've purchased fiio bta30 pro for connecting my ldac sony tws wf-1000xm4 to Playstation5...and I don't have good news...

Connection is very easy. At first, you have to put tx uac1 mode on fiio control app (fiio control app only reads the bta30 pro on rx mode). Automatically ps5 reads fiio bta 30 pro via usb. Connection between Fiio and sony tws is very easy too: in pairing mode, the bta30 pro automatically reads the tws with white light enabled (ldac mode). But the problem is that sound volume is very very small, impossible to play with that volume. It remembers me when I tried to connect jdslabs atom to ps5: the sound volume was very small, but jdslabs did a new firmware that fixed that problem.

Also, I tried to connect the bta30 pro via optical in with an hdmi splitter, the same splitter that I use for connecting ps5 via optical to my headphone rack (topping d70s + burson conductor 160d + sony mdr-z1r) with amazing results...0 sound, I don't know why.

The most rare thing is that I tried fiio bta30 (normal version)...and works ok with Playstation 5, and volume is really high. But of course, you can only pair with my tws in sbc mode, and sound quality is not good enough (I've returned the normal version)

Is there anything that I can do? Do I have to put a different config in fiio control? I like this product, I like the idea to play ps5 in summer with light and fresh tws (over ear headphones and summer are not a good couple), and I don't want to return it

Regards,

Regards,
Have you played with the volume control knob? It actually controls BT volume. For maximum LDAC SQ, you set it to 990kbps via the FiiO Control app.

Also, check PS5 audio output is in PCM, headphone, or stereo.

Hi silver ears. Volume knob is set to maximum, ps5 is set to max volume in pcm mode

If anybody see some mistakes in attached photos please tell me.

Thanks for the pictures. It looks like you've done everything on your end.

I've read online and it sucks that Sony went away with optical output. That seems very inconvenient, but I know for a fact they screwed people over with not being able to import save files over USB for PS5 titles. Sony pulls crap like this, with their memory cards, and all kinds of bs.

If it doesn't work, it's probably best to do HDMI to optical conversion or even better if you have an optical output through a passthrough device like TV or a audio receiver you can extract optical PCM from.

You should also check with FiiO so that you didn't get a defective device.

You should only resort to something like this if you know your pro is functioning like it should and still want to use the pro. Also, I advise going with optical port on TV or receiver if you send HDMI to either. You either are not the cause, converter like this is the solution.

Dear friend,

If you switch the volume control mode to fixed at 100% in TX mode, can the sound output correctly? And you may try another Bluetooth headphone as well.

Best regards

Thanks for your reply. I actually use a good splitter that works like a charm with my other equipment. If you see something wrong in fiio control app for connecting vía optical please let me know

You are already ahead of all this. You surely know better than I in what to do.

Edit: Based on your screenshots, on your TX settings, you should set it to optical (if you are using optical splitter). I'm sure you already know this. You don't need to set this on the app, you can set it with the buttons on the device.

Setting it to UAC 1.0 is correct for PS5 usb output as well, but you said the volume is too low.

Good afternoon fiio,

Yes, I tried to fix it at 100%, same results. I'll try tomorrow with other headphones, but it seems quality/firmware issue: it's not normal that you can use with normal bta30 and not with bta30 pro. If I go to fiio official website I see a bta30 pro with a playstation 5.
Please tell me if you see something wrong in the config
Many thanks

Hello, will I be able to connect this device with my FiiO UTWS5 so that I will listen to my music, and also to Amazon HD, from my laptop? Will it play in aptX Adaptive?
And, will I be able to control Play/Pause, Volume and Next/Previous track from the UTWS5?

@FiiO ?

Thank you

It will work virtually with any BT device from an android smartphone, or laptop with windows 10, Mac OS and even Linux. Aptx LLC(green) is the default bt audio codec for BTA30 Pro. AFAIK, BTA30 Pro does not support Aptx adaptive, only Aptx, Aptx_LLC and Aptx-HD codecs besides LDAC, AAC and SBC. So far, all my BT devices paired with BTA30 Pro allow me to use physical buttons on device to control play/pause, volume and next/previous track. I use Amazon Music Unlimited HD and Tidal Hifi Plus audio streaming services from my laptop with BTA30 Pro.

Hello, thank you for your reply

So, if I will buy the BTA30 Pro and use it with my UTWS5, I will be listening at aptX = 325 kbps bitrate, while my source will be FLAC... So, a little bit higher than an mp3?

@FiiO , both of these are your devices, can you confirm? Can you also tell me if I will be able to control play/pause, volume and previous/next from the buttons on the UTWS5?

Yes, it will be set to Aptx at (325 kbps). To be honest, I didn't hear a great difference between Aptx-HD and Aptx on my LG PK9 Xboom from BTA30 Pro with Tidal Hifi Plus and FLAC 24bit 192khz audio sources.
I got my 2nd BTA30 Pro and paired it with a new budget BT speaker, a soundcore motion+ which has Aptx and was greatly impressed. Decided to get a 2nd Motion+ to pair them up in stereo mode and was blown away.

I failed to find the problem from the pictures you sent. And a reviewer tested the BTA30Pro with the PS5 before. The connection works. Do you have another Bluetooth headphone for try as well?
