Favorite Musical Discovery of the Past Year

Artists I've discovered and gone on to buy/obtain as much of their work as possible, in order of effect on me/how long they were on non-stop repeat, and brackets containing the album I heard first:
- Imogen Heap (Speak For Yourself)
- The Matches (Decomposer)
- Ozric Tentacles (There is Nothing)
- Jade Warrior (Last Autumn's Dream)
- Joe Hisaishi (Princess Mononoke OST)
- Joanna Newsom (Ys)

BTW, you lot make life hard for me - now I have to chase down everyone else's recommendations

The National - Boxer
Really sublime

The Bird and the Bee - The Bird and the Bee
Catchy as hell

Radiohead - In Rainbows
Never really liked any of their earlier albums except for a few songs so this one took me by surprise.

Pink Martini -Hey Eugene!
Like traveling the world in the comfort of your own home. Got their previous albums as well which are equal to if not better then "Hey Eugene"

Not that great of a year for hip-hop as it is my genre of choice.

I agree. I hated Ok Computer but love In Rainbows.

Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot owns but Wilco - Summerteeth sucks.

Meh.
