Thanks. Just applied Brooko's EQ and it's much better. It's just a pity the X7ii doesn't allow two EQ's so I could apply his FH5 EQ and switch between the two depending on what IEMs I was using.

Have you tried this one:
In case you were wondering how to EQ the FA7 here's the corrective EQ settings to match harman / uSound targets.

Harman parametric 10bands: https://www.dropbox.com/s/13jx6v9c9k4drfn/Fiio FA7.pdf?dl=0
uSound parametric 9bands: https://www.dropbox.com/s/opawjb99thh6q2y/Fiio FA7 (USound Target).pdf?dl=0
(the settings above were gently provided by Oratory1990 and they are based on Crinacle measurements using what I believe to be the stock silicone tips).

Harman graphic 10 bands: https://github.com/jaakkopasanen/AutoEq/blob/master/results/crinacle/harman_in-ear_2017-1/FiiO FA7/README.md
uSound graphic 10 bands: https://github.com/jaakkopasanen/AutoEq/blob/master/results/crinacle/usound/FiiO FA7/README.md
(these were calculated by the AutoEQ script written by jaakkopasanen).

I'll try them in the following days.

+1 on the u-sound

I'll try and get you quick comparisons to FA1, FH5, FA7 and FH7 this weekend.

Depending on your budget - personally I'd skip the FA7 - I think they ruined it with too much mid-bass. FH7 is much better, and if you want an option outside FiiO (all BA), consider the Fearless S8 Freedom.

Is the FH5 with your midrange EQ your favorite? I just wish the FH7 had less bass OOTB, as my OCD gets a nudge when applying your five band EQ. Just seems we are having to do too much.

Well that's an easy fix. Just buy another x7II :p

What do you think FiiO were thinking when tuned the FA7, as it has pretty much been universally criticised for the overblown bass and treble roll-off?

I've got mine for sale, but am thinking about selling my FH5 as well and going to a non FiiO IEM.

I just don't see why I should have to EQ 5 frequency bands to get it to sound like it should out of the box. As I said above, what were FiiO thinking?

Some peole like them in their original state

Which is why I haven't bothered to EQ FA7, I think they are a beautiful thing as they are, provided this is the kind of sound you were looking for.

FH7 is the one for neutrality from FiiO :)
