DD bass moves more air, so you get more bass impact and weight (also IMO more decay and timbre). BA bass tends to be faster, quicker and cleaner with less weight. You can see two bass measurements on a graph, and although the BA may show more, a DD can show lower bass but deliver (perceptually) more (or the same).
As to whether the FH7 is worth it over the FA7 ..... it depends .....
I don't EQ the FH7, and I only pretty much reduce the bass and lower mids on the FA7. After EQ the FA7 is still a warmish and quite lush IEM - still has a lot of bass impact - but has much better clarity.
If I listen to the same track with no EQ on the FH7, there is more separation between bass and mids, and less weight in the vocals in the lower mids. Its a drier presentation with pretty good bass impact, but perhaps a little more colouration in the upper mids.
If you know full sized headphones - the FA7 with EQ is an HD650, the FH7 without is a Beyer DT880. Both are fantastic - it just depends what you're looking for. If you like the FA7 with EQ - I'd stick with it.
EDIT - for me personally, I prefer the FA7 with EQ, OR I'd lightly EQ the FH7 (deal with the dip in the lower mid-range). I'm pretty picky though. You should also check out the Fearless S8 Freedom.
alright, many thanks.
also your EQ works great for the FA7. If you manage to further polish the values let us know
