Yeah, his impressions reflect my own. I went to sleep with them on last night and had trouble falling asleep because of how long I wanted to listen.
It'll take some more direct comparisons to tell how they really perform on a technical level, but at least from a tuning perspective these are impeccable. Haven't even bothered tip rolling yet because the default sound is so pleasant. Sound signature is subjective but it's really hard to imagine anyone actively disliking the FA7's sound.
Like hawaiibadboy said, the FH5 were a bit too forward with the vocals out of the box for me, and I also thought they were a bit more ''soft' sounding. Laid back in the treble, so that they were a smooth listen once you got used to mids. That's fine, but I prefer a more engaging sound. I think Fiio's description of the differences between the FH5 and FA7 are actually pretty perfect, nowtl that I think of it.
Again, it's good I don't feel an immediate downgrade from my higher end(and far more expensive IEMs).
And the fit really is great. It feels like they made me a custom ear mold. Similar to the FH5's well designed for, but a bit smaller with a deeper sound tube, so they stay in the ear much more easily while out and about.
