I ordered my IE600 on June 26th from The Source AV here is SoCal. Received them on the 29th. Great service.
These sound incredible. I love the clean, tight bass. Even though they are most certainly V shaped in sound profile, the mids are present enough. The highs are always what the song needs them to be. As far as sound goes, I would say the only area I would like a little more is slam/impact. While they are improved in this area over my 7hz Timeless (by a little), they are not up to the impact of say a Zen Pro. Though, to me, they are easily better than the Zen Pro at everything else. If the trade off is clean tight bass VS more impactful bass, I will take the deal. They made the right choice.
My other early concerns were- A: I needed a 2.5mm cable and I could only find the Sennheiser version for these over seas and I did not want to pay/wait for those. Also the factory cable is just okay overall. B: Ear tips, Would the factory tips fit me? Can I use other tips and get the sound I want?
Short ish answers- A: I Ordered a 'GU Craftsman 5N OFC Silver' cable from Amazon. I love it, cable 'issue' solved.
B: This might turn out to be a deal breaker, I have not made up my mind. The factory tips sound and fit great. But they are very expensive and not readily available at the moment. I did found them in Europe for $30 including shipping (more like $45 domestically!) I tried a bunch of other tips. Including the Ostry OS300 tips, which also have a filter on the tip. These sounded the closest to stock, but with 20% reduced bass (in my ears remember) and more 6~8k treble. This is an important note because these Ostry tips add a TON of bass to everything else I have tried them on. In fact all of the tips I tried reduced the bass a noticeable amount. If you like the IE 600 and want an alternative tip with a little less bass and still retain the filter, the OS300 may work for you. Or the other slightly less bassy Ostry options, OS100 & OS200.
Why a potential deal breaker? While I don't mind having to use only one proprietary OEM tip, the price is ridiculous for some little pieces of silicone honestly. And the current availability is beyond poor. @Sennheiser do you think the regular price will be $45? (Please don't reply with 'the dealer sets the price' answer) Or more like $30?
Great job on these @Sennheiser. They are really superb overall.
