Well, one thing is certain, they'll announce their new Momentum TWS this week. But might there's a little surprise?

I used the final type-E tips on the IE300 and it was fine. Better seal for me personally and similar enough to the stock tips. So, I haven't heard if the IE600 nozzle is shaped the same as the 300 or if the tips are the same, or maybe they're all the same basic design in the IE line?

The stock tips for the two look the same to me. The Finals fit on both of mine just fine, although I have gone back to stock silicone as they fit me fine and the sound tailors to my preference a bit more.

Quick question. Lots of people reference HD650 when describing IE600 sound. I had the HD650 but it sounded a bit muddy to me (sorry!) and I switched to HD600 which sound much better to my ears. I am considering getting IE600 but I wonder if I will be disappointed because it sounds like HD650.

Anyone who has HD600 and can shed some light?

Sonically it is way closer to the HD650 than it is to the 600. The described “muddyness” is not present. It takes the warm pleasing sound of the HD650 and adds resolution and clarity.

I compared the HD600 to the HD650 when I purchased my 650 and even if the 600 was resolving better, I chose the 650 for its musicality. The IE600 is warm and pleasant as well as detailed and sparkly without fatigue.

@ericpalonen - just saw a little teaser for the MTWS3. Would you be willing to say that they might scratch an itch of mine? I just picked up the etymotic ER2XR as sort of an IE600 placeholder or functional stopgap for the time being (No US release at time of post). Wireless is still much preferred in the work environment though.

P.S. I know you're required to smile and say yes... I'm just keeping watch and hoping you are involved in that project as well.

Thanks, sounds like I don’t need to worry. Might still wait for an audition first though before making the investment.

So let us get the good news out of the way: targeted US sale of IE 600 will be May 12th (preorder) and release on May 24th (shipping of available stock). If you're wanting IE 600 and hoping MTW3 will fill the gap, they're just too different in terms of application and core features to be an interchangeable recommendation. MTW3 are available to pre-order now with a target release of May 10th.

While there is some shared DNA in a Momentum True Wireless series set and IE 600, I'd pick the IE 600 for listening with intent over MTW. For context, I use the MTW2 daily for calls, music, and YouTube TV. I absolutely love it. It's remarkably close to a wired sound with the right app. I feel anxious when it is not with me. It's a much higher quality listen than freebie wireless earbuds, and has the "Sennheiser Sound"...but an IE 600 owner will not mistake the two for each other.

The MTW3 signature will sound similar to existing MTW2 and MTW sets, but with better noise cancellation when you need it. For those needing the best-sounding true wireless earphones because they don't like what they have, or they've been bit by the audiophile bug, or want their first set to be reaaaally good, get the MTW3 without hesitation. MTW3 will be darn good and for your wireless needs, will get you closer to IE 600 sound than anything else that is true wireless.

I don't think its possible to say they sound the same as each other, but there are elements of HD 600 and HD 650 that are similar to IE 600 like the full-bodied bass and vocal clarity. I've long said that there's a line between the IE 600 and the forefathers of Hi-Fi HD 600/650, but an in-ear vs a circumaural open-back are always going to be apples/oranges even if they have tonal relation. The final presentation of the audio is just too different.

Has the release date for New Zealand/Australia been confirmed yet?

@ericpalonen @Sennheiser

Just to confirm, the pin polarity of the IE600 MMCX socket is standard right? Positive center, Negative outside? (My apologies, had a few Earsonics before, and this is my 1st MMCX, just want to be sure)
Correct. MMCX components are interchangeable across brands, just note that the cable's termination must fit inside the socket of the IE 300 / 600 / 900 as illustrated here.
