I'm not sure about others, but the clamping is too tight and pinch my right ear too much. I was getting hot spots that were hurting.

So, I decided to do this, and now it's next to perfect comfort.

In the picture, I leave it like that for the whole night. No damages and not touching the strap or earpads. The small screws are holding it up. The sound is the same, not altered at all.

The strap is not loose after this, if you are wondering.

Stretchy already hmm! I want everything tight! No lose or no stretchy

I agree but after awhile the hot spots was happening.
It is still tight. I still have to pull the earcups out to place on head.

Perfect feel & fit stock here; no issues with headband and ear pads. If anything I prefer them tighter to ensure a good seal and stay put. Then again I was playing with Grados recently, and even those with flat pads or reverse-G pads (most uncomfortable of all) were tolerable to me, so this is life on "easy" mode right now.

Don't think other dynamics will be able to compete with the ES-R10 for me, now. These are too wonderful. The PS2000e were nice but get left in the dust. GS3000e meh. HD820, gross. Didn't like the Stellia or Empyrean when I borrowed them. I liked Utopia but haven't got around to re-buying them, and I remember the soundstage sucks compared to ES-R10. I'm experimenting with Stax / electrostats again, and those have a shot, but they're just so damn picky on amps. Just now ordered an ES-1 alpha for comparison :)

Yes sir. These are great. If I hated them I would of WWE them :L3000:

MDR-10/ESR10
L3000/L5000
D9200/AWTK

Only a few closed backs are good.

ES-1 alpha for comparison
Alright awesome. You will notice the bass is tighter and stronger on it. It is quite interesting. Hope you enjoy.

Yup, the D9200 is very nice sounding despite smallish headstage.

I broke out my L3000 briefly the other day. Still love them, but feel like ES-R10 are better overall in sound. That said, I need to give the Leatherheads some more attention. I'm interested in the other 3 you listed, but wonder what roles they fill, and which are specialists vs. all-rounders like the ES-R10?

Get the Denon D9200! Supremely musical despite some what smallish soundstage. Super efficient and low profile to boot! I need this for my work. My ES-R10 draws too much attention.

Attention from the ladies? :sunglasses:
I'm not sure normal people differentiate a lot from one large wood headphone to another larger wood headphone?

Yes I agree.

The D9200 is a underrated gem! Its pretty good. It is somewhat better than the ES-R10.

The D9200 has a interesting warm musical sound. It might be Denon greatest headphone they ever made.

Well those are some pretty solid recs for the D9200! I'll add these headphones to the back of my mind, which has the unfortunate habit of becoming the front of my mind rather quickly. Wow do I ever need a headphone culling, asap. Damn ES-R10 lit a fire for sure, though.

My Null Audio 8-core silver cables with 4.4mm termination are finally here and I can finally listen to the R10 out of my 3Max!

Loving the combo! The 3Max has sufficient power to drive them without any loss in dynamics. Bass sounds much improved, hits deeper into the skull much like how the MEST 2 dBc feels. But I’m not sure if it’s the silver cables or the DAP haha!

Need more time. But balanced works well! Gonna need to convert one of my camera bags into a carrier for the R10 now.. simply can’t live without it 😏

I run mine out of 3 Max Ti with really good results too.

Purk lent me a modded iBasso DX220 Max, and the ES-R10 definitely sounds amazing out of it balanced (4.4 Silver Dragon here). Better than the Sony WM1Z Walkman, which is also extremely good. Not quite as good as the desktop setup with Headroom Max Balanced, but very close. I was kind of blown away how good a sound you can get portable, these days.
