I've had the 990s for a few months now and really like them. But sometimes at work I'd prefer not to let my music our or others music in, so I'd like to find a pair of closed back phones that are at least on par with these. I should mention that I have a pair of DT770 PRO 600Ω (the pre-2000s discontinued model). While those sound very accurate, the bass is noticeably quieter than the 990s and I prefer the 990 level. Do the newer 770 models improve on bass enough to come close to the 990s? Some recommendations I've read include the ATH-M50 and K271mkII. I'm not inclinded to go with Senn's because I already go through a tube headphone amp, and things might get a bit too warm sounding for my taste. But maybe I'm wrong.
For music, I mostly listen to electronica, indie pop/rock, a little jazz, and a dash of classical. I am open to brands outside beyerdynamic, but one thing is a must: comfort. Your thoughts are welcomed.
