haha well said, especially coming from you!It was photoshopped . I don't wear them while driving, that was a one time thing on an empty road to see if drone would change the sound so I could recommend them for travel if asked. I don't advise driving with IEM's in as it's illegal and dangerous.

haha yeah , cause for the most people , 200-400hours .. the return window is closed already after that listening timeI'm curious why, if 'burn in doesn't exist', so many manufacturers recommend burn-in? I guess the punters know more than the manufacturers these days...
just a joke .. i think its a "believer" thing.. if you believe it , something "will happen" ( maybe only in your brain ? ) if you dont believe .. nothing happens...
and IF there is something happening .. its only on the minor side.. you can never "burn out" an extreme peak or "loose up the drivers" to raise bass by 5db ... or something like that...

No seriously it's probably 1 db max but in some cases that's just enough to sway the jury.
so when you aren t replying here anymore , we know you reached the 6000hours mark and your head exploded by the insane bumpI got at least a 70db bump in bass from 6,000 hours of turquoise noise.

No. I meant both actually as written. Apologies, I do realise now that putting them in the same piece was probably unnecessarily confusing. If you want to tame the treble a bit, I’d suggest maybe trying the Leo 2 Octa. It keeps the detail while smoothing it out a touch and the soundstage sounded a bit wider to my ears too. It does rob it of a bit of the sparky energy inherent in the Hero signature but it sounds like you might not be such a fan of that anyway. 1960s just sounded boring but that also tames the treble a touch. The Cleo and Cleo Octa just dial up the bass and sub bass to insane (and not in a good way) levels. The Code 51 will be too bright for your tastes, I think. I also tried a few thicker gauge copper wires (felt a bit too veiled for me), a couple of pure silver cables (too bright) and some good SPC wires (ok but not as good as the Leo 2 Octa from my perspective). I hope that helps.Just to be clear, because I found this a bit confusing...you first reference the Odin, and then flip to the Hero. Did you mean to do that?
I'm asking, in part, because I'm personally struggling with the Hero's treble and looking for a alternate cable pairing to try and tame it. And so it would be an interesting data point to me (selfishly speaking) to know if you indeed tried the Hero with all of the cables you referenced, and if so, what you found they did to the treble in particular.
But...in the end I'm guessing you meant the Odin.
Very helpful - glad I asked and thank you for clarifyingNo. I meant both actually as written. Apologies, I do realise now that putting them in the same piece was probably unnecessarily confusing. I will have an 8-wire silver/copper fusion cable that I intend to pair with my LX SE that I'd like to try with the Hero; the 8-wire silver cable I have doesn't tame the treble enough. Depending on how the hero sounds with the fusion cable, I'll plot my next move

How about a pretty picture to lighten the mood
The iBasso DX220 Max is my new favourite DAP for the Legend X. Never heard the LX sound this good

Your point is valid, anything mechanical moves better after some cycles. My point on the Burn in without trying it is to avoid bias. Because most of the cases during burn in and time spent using the gear, one's brain is getting used to that "thing" (in this case sound). other cases the user is also experimenting in moving speakers around, changing tips, cables, using other gear, the mood of the day, how many fights with the miss, how many beers or glass of wine someone had. All of that affect ones perception.I've been around high end 2 channel since the vey very early 70's. We never even spoke about burn in that far back, but it was very real and we all noticed it. It's subtle like most things in audio. There are physical reason's for this from loosening surrounds on drivers to grain boundaries in wire to dielectrics that have been addressed by Audioquest cables and cords.
If you don't believe in it, that's fine too. I take decent notes when listening to new components. I use sources and amps that I am highly familiar with. IRT Head gear (may I call IEM's and DAP's headgear?), it's on a different scale. I also don't have all the extra DAP's, amps and cables that most of you guys do. I also don't own more than a few IEM's. Most know this and when they read my thoughts on things, they know to trust their own ears, but hopefully enjoy reading some of my posts as I enjoy reading all of your posts.
Anything we post about is biased. We are human and I can tell you that at times, I've really loved something up front, but over time realized it had more 'issues' than I first expected. That's one reason I post running commentary on specific music I'm playing or thoughts over time from the notebook. I don't pretend to be a reviewer like so many of you guys are, nor do I want to be, lol.
I have figured out by getting to hear others gear, who's reviews I most closely align with. It's a fun hobby and like anything, we get emotional. Some of the vitriol posted in the last ten pages has been entertaining and amazing. I've never seen that on this board. It's on all the 2 channel boards as we take things personally, LOL....
Lot's to unfold, but the bottom line is that EE is right there with any other company in making outstanding products for most ears. There are plenty of strong offerings in the IEM world and it's easy to like a few from everyone's lines. Plenty to go around as you guys all seem to own a ton of them. In 2 channel audio, speakers are way to expensive and large to buy and sell. JMHO
All in all, I am a burn in believer, but not a brain burn in. If a gear needs burn in, get out of the box and leave it there burning in without using it, then you will have the best of the gear without bias.
EDIT: BTW, that's how I view burn in, but I understand how other feel about it.

same page as you. When I am reviewing, I NEVER change anything other than the review item. I also break in my gear, but I don't 'listen'. I may make a note or two as I did wiht the Odin's, but I don't listen until the piece has over 500 hours. Silver does need that long. Often the gear I get has been around the block adn is already burned in. Then I just give it about 24 hours to stabilize and go from there.

finally received my Odin!
Huge thanks to @Jack Vang and @TaronL from Headphones.com
I tried the Odin, Hero, and Nio demo about a month ago and walked away with the Hero. Not long after going home I had regrets not able to bring the Odin home so I quickly placed an order for the Founders Edition before they sold out...
I even asked Taron if it was possible to request a specific # - he said chances are slim but told me he'd try and HE GOT IT FOR ME!
I'm not going to go into impression as I previously already mentioned it
so enjoy some pictures

Same here. When I get a new item, I will give it a quick listen just to get an idea, but then I start the burn-in process by playing music 24/7 for at least a week, sometimes much longer depending on what the item is. I do give it a quick listen every few days just to check how things are coming along, about 5 minutes or so.

What was the significance of number 168 as I guess that is the number you wanted?
